The Holly hike we tried a few weeks ago wasn't quite as successful as it could have been... Maybe we could give it another try?

Or, Birch said he could come up w/ a nice hike/swim at Waterloo/Pickney.

“Sounds great, but I'm out of town (again) this weekend. It was just too darn hot to want to go any further last time!”

“Another option would be Highland Rec Area. I think we've yet to hike there as a group.

Anyone interested in camping on Friday night, too?”

“I don’t want to be a rabble-rouser here, not to much anyway, but are we to assume that you do your mountaineering some place outside of Michigan? Michigan Mountaineers sounds a little like the Idaho big wave surfers or the Florida alpine skiing champion.

“TB - Talk to me about camping Friday, Shane and I are interested. In fact we were thinking of going on our own somewhere. I've stayed at Blind Lake and Green? Lake in the fall, thinking the trail will be crowded with Mountain Bikers and campsites will be at a premium. We're up for it anyway. Couldn't get out there until around 7:30, 8:00. Saving vacation days for Isle Royale :)”

“Yeah. I wouldn't be able to make camp until 7ish, too.

Truth be told, I'm not sure where to camp that we would get a site due to it being prime camping season.

I'll check into it for Waterloo/Pickney, Holly, and Highland. I'll see if I can't reserve something.”

“dhutch - birch also made the point about the moutain bikers... So, we'll skip Waterloo/Pickney.

I contacted the DRN and as of 5pm tonight, there are 15 site available at Highland. We can only reserve sights if we camp for two nights. I only plan to camp for one. So, unless someone else will be sticking around for night two, reservations are out.

However, I've just realized that I have a meeting tomorrow that will allow me to get out there early. 3pm at the latest. We can try our luck at getting a site then. Or, if we really really want to make sure we have a site, I can "reserve" two nights.

So, either way, the plan is to hike at Highland Rec Area on Saturday at 9am. It's located on M-59... east of US 23 and west of Pontiac. The park entrance is on the south side of M-59.”

“Mtn Gal, We, collectively, have a great sense of humor. How could you think we might be serious?”

“Count me in. I might not be there before 7 or 8 tho.”

“I might be in. I have my bathroom ripped apart right now and I'm getting a new furnance and central installed towmorrow. It will depend on how far I get (putting my bathroom back together) on friday. Will post update tomorrow (or is it today yet??) ....”

“Trying to jam too much in six weeks. It doesn't look good for me. We just had a hugh rain storm here in da 'hood that has set everything back many hours. If I can get there, I'll be there, but I'm not counting on it.

“Actually, Aug. 1, but I'll be at a couple of conferences next week, so tomorrow is celebration day. Depending on what my family has planned, I may make the hike.”

“it's offical, can't make it. Home Depot was suppose to be here 4 hrs ago, so I have to use tomorrow to make up for the time I lost today.

Ya'll missed out on some interesting stuff at the Highland Lake campground.. Not quite as quiet (read w/ sarcasm!) as Brighton was last year.

“50 minutes off of MDT. Closer to Central time but 10 minutes off of that as well.
