Tyvek material on Ebay
To all you who love Tyvek for tent footprints or anything else, this guy on Ebay is selling the stuff for $2.25 per linear foot-1'x8'9" You just tell him how many feet you want and he cuts it off a roll 8'9" wide. It's not an auction, but a set price plus shipping.
Thought some of you might want to know.
I think I'll get enough to make a tepee.

Do a search by item number 1846265128 to find the stuff.

That's a better deal than the guy who was selling it on a thread here. Thanks!

14.99?????
for a small piece like that? is this stuff really that expensive?

I just took what was left from a roll at a jobsite today. im not sure how much is left, but i've got at least an 8x15 piece, probably more. i feel bad for taking it if it's that expensive. i just thought it was trash since there's not enough to really do anything with at another job. but, i might have to give it back now.

my bro-in-law is in construction...he ALWAYS asks before taking something...some companies are very touchy about that

No kidding! You can buy gromments for pennies to make stake out points. Campmor is charging alot.

The problem is that you can't buy the stuff by the yard at the home stores. Who wants to buy a whole roll?

That guy on ebay is going to do well.

I got a bunch of it from construction sites for free thought it sucked as a ground cloth and threw it all away.

go to a construction site and ask one of the guys for a chunk. they don't care. they prolly have scraps. i found mine tangled up in a pile of branches.

I like it as a ground cloth and I also like having pieces of it cut for sitting on around camp and on breaks while hiking. It doesn't soak through, folds or stuffs down tiny and the noise goes away after using it for a few trips.

I don't wash mine in the washer though....just wipe it down.

if you run it through the washer before the first use, it gets softer and not so rattley/noisy.

You can buy it way cheap in bulk at several places on the net. Campmor's price is a ripoff.

Some contractors will prosecute for taking stuff off a job site - even scrap - you better ask someone before you walk off with something.

I have a tyvek suit. It has a hood and feet even. It was made for asbestos removal. It's awful hot.

Its designed as a vapor barrier. It isn't supposed to allow air to pass through.

$15 a ground pad. I'll by a Roll and sell it @ $10 and make a mint.

I bought a huge roll of Tyvek for our scout troop. I think it cost about $40 bucks. I still have half left over and probably will for the rest of my life. The stuff wears like iron.

No kidding os1johnson.

Creek Dancer, you could get rid of that tyvek in a hurry if you pieced it out to TTers. It does last forever.

Roam and Liz - it's only 36 inches wide. I just checked and I have enough for about 3 single person tents. If you want a piece, e-mail me your addy and I will send you some.

hmmmm, thats not really wide enough for what I want - i need a ground cloth thats about twice that wide - I'll let someone that is better suited to that width have it.

thanks though :)
