Well...Maybe Traditional “Just got done shopping for food for this weekend's trip, and ended up getting things I wouldn't nromally think of bringing (hiking at least). Stuff for... -Bagel humous cucumber tomato onion sammich -Tortilla tuna swisscheese avacado lemonjuice sammich -Apples, banannas -salad in bag, broccoli & cauliflower -chicken chunks in a bag, -etc. etc. and so on and so forth. I dont' want to cook that much, and frankly, I want to eat real food at any cost/weight. Can I get a witness???” 8:22:39 PM 7/25/02 amen brutha “fresh fruit is awesome on the trail. the only thing better than carrying fresh fruit in is eatint the apples off the tree on tar jacket ridge.” 8:29:34 PM 7/25/02 “eatint=eating” 8:30:42 PM 7/25/02 “Mmmm-just remembering fresh wild blueberries in early sept. in the Smokies. Happy happy!” 8:31:38 PM 7/25/02 Holy Moly “Wow is my pack heavy! Next trip, I'm going back to dehydrated crap. Of course , there's not much I could've done with such short notice...and NO place that sells dehydrated meals in the remote vicinity. Can't wait to eat!” 4:38:23 AM 7/26/02 “I prefer to transform a dusty little baggie of nondescript chunks & powder into a delicious, nutritious meal. I can get real food anytime. Backpacking is an opportunity for culinary magic.” 5:56:27 AM 7/26/02 “Summer is a great season for the non-stove bakpacker's pantry. Who needs a big hot dinner when it's 75F? The heavy food can be offset by the missing weight of the winter gear. (Although the above sounds good, I still like the Enertia dehydrated dinners and a little java in the morning.)” 6:05:17 AM 7/26/02 “That stuff sounds YUMMY. (well, except the onions). It'll be worth the extra weight.” 7:57:37 AM 7/26/02 “Eat the bananas at the trail head. (imho)” 8:01:01 AM 7/26/02 “One thing you could do is use the dry stuff and after you cook it, roll it in lawash bread or pita. Might give you the varitey your looking fer....” 8:17:23 AM 7/26/02 “1 can of Spam at any cost!” 11:43:16 AM 7/26/02 “I love to have an apple a day on the trail. It is well worth the weight. The only problem in Montana was that Sarabella and Gizmo turned up their noses at the cores & I had to pack them out.” 12:26:45 PM 7/26/02 “thats easy. I eat all the apple except the stem. Its easy to pack out. 8D” 12:29:23 PM 7/26/02 “I know that this is going to sound bad but, I leave the cores for the birds and other critters to eat. I don't see it as littering because something will eat it and I don't throw it right on the trail usaully 50 yeards or so off the trail.” 11:19:46 AM 7/28/02
