“Putting together a trip for Labor Day week. Tuolome to Vogalsang, to Merced, to Sunrise to Half Dome, then to the Valley and shuttle back to the car. 8 days on the trail. 6 guys.
Hoping to miss the crowds for back to school is that week for most.

This weekend will be cliff diving into remote swimming holes in Tahoe National Forest. We found these bottomless pools last weekend and will be returning to the sun baked granite and pools that are seperated by 10-20' waterfalls. The rock scrambling pretty fun too and the water temp is perfect.”

Actually I had a wonderful dayhike and swim along the Little North Fork of the Santiam river on Sunday. Swam three times in cold crystal clear water... what bliss!
The trail is not in wilderness but rather in the Opal Creek Scenic Natural Area. Great dayhike.
Wondering if the North end of Jefferson up at the summit of the Cascades is clear of smoke or not?

“The catskills have poisonous snakes, so I tend to stay mostly on the trails in summer. They seem especially aggresive when it's really hot. Getting nailed once in the knee, was enough for me. The Adirondacks (out of the Hudson, Lk George, Champlain valley) are pretty much snake free, so I can bushwhack with a little more comfort. Some of their bugs are man eaters though.”
