Support Organic FramersView Messages“More nutritious is subjective.” 9:58:37 PM 8/01/02 “meat does kinda scare me when it is organic, with being preservitave free, and "minimuly processed", no you cant assume that most of the time, that it why being informed about the individual farm is the best way to go. When they are fed organic, it is better for them, the organic IS more nutricious, many recent studys will confirm that, in turn makes the chicken more nutricious. You do have good points, but obveously are a supporter yourself, because its in your fridge.” 10:18:20 PM 8/01/02 “the government does regulate the other way of farming, sorry framing, but unfourtunatly can not regulate what gets dissolved into the air, gets into our rain water, and then right into our water systems.” 10:27:58 PM 8/01/02 cageless? “the eggs in the "nature's market" aisle at kroger come from cageless chickens? i like my veal chained down so it's nice and tender. sorry, i still have nothing valuable to add, i just keep doing it anyway.” 10:33:30 PM 8/01/02 cageless? “the eggs in the "nature's market" aisle at kroger come from cageless chickens? i like my veal chained down so it's nice and tender. sorry, i still have nothing valuable to add, i just keep doing it anyway.” 10:33:30 PM 8/01/02 “sorry, meant to say evaporates, not dissolves into our air..im a little tired.... Cageless....same post twice, josh are you drinking again, (just kidding :) )Oh yeah, thanks for your contribution anyways, its all valuble in here, you make for good entertainment...” 10:40:30 PM 8/01/02 “Range feed beef is being raised in NM. I worry about cannibalistic feed, Mad Cow (sorry MC) and related diseases. It should be leaner, too. I am a firm believer in irradiating food. I bet Skully is too. Blood is frequently irradiated, for the same reason, to kill cells. Its safe, it works. I worry about poisons, especially those that accumulate in the environment. Environmental toxicity exists, it is not theoretical.” 10:40:31 PM 8/01/02 irradiating? “please explain a little more. they put radiation in the food to make it healthy?” 10:44:35 PM 8/01/02 “Nope, they use a machine to burst it with radioactive beams, like photon beams, and kill anything in it, but leave no residual radioactivity.” 10:48:13 PM 8/01/02 wow “never heard of anything like that before.” 11:01:25 PM 8/01/02 “The same sort of thing they use to kill tumors, radiation therapy. Or anthrax in the mail.” 11:06:00 PM 8/01/02 “Hmmmmm, Subway vs Carl's Jr.... That's a tough one” 11:40:48 PM 8/01/02 “I take care to support our local organic and hydroponic farmers” 11:56:56 PM 8/01/02 A proponent? “It was cheaper than the other stuff.” 6:54:21 PM 8/02/02 “I support the closure of golf courses which contribute to groundwater pollution worse than farming (you think all those green lawns grow naturally?). I do NOT support true organic farming because I do not even know if the products I buy are truly 'organic.' Rational thinking would lead me to believe that if only 2% of farms are organic, then only 2% (or less) of the food in the supermarket is actually organic. Therefore, it doesn't make me feel better to look at rows of food labelled 'organic' in the grocery store and to buy it thinking I'm doing my part. What does make me feel good, however, is that the U.S. produces food CHEAP. We spend less per capita than any other country on food. That means less people go hungry and starve. I believe the USDA and other government agencies have done a fine job keeping food safe and CHEAP. Secondly, the environment is important, but there are bigger polluters to go after than farmers who aren't exacly getting rich off the American people.” 7:14:22 PM 8/02/02 “Take the manufacturers of your computer for example.” 7:16:00 PM 8/02/02 2:43:10 PM 2/18/05 “I hate those organic frames!” 2:58:45 PM 2/18/05 “Organic Framers? Are we talking construction people or people who put pictures into frames?” 2:59:10 PM 2/18/05 “ ”3:02:23 PM 2/18/05 “lol...Prowler is responsible for the initial mispelling in the thread title, not me!” 3:10:12 PM 2/18/05 “Dam Framers!” 9:41:54 PM 2/18/05 “check out the teefs on that gal with the funky shades!” 1:15:30 AM 2/19/05 “And on that note, head to my "Deliverance" thread. HAHAHAHAHAHA!” 1:19:11 AM 2/19/05 “No Doubt! I'm from TN but that gal looks like she's from TN!” 1:21:40 AM 2/19/05 “Thats a METH HEAD if I ever seen one!” 7:05:44 AM 2/19/05 “Hey Roam, don't knock that girl with a tooth missing. If he knows how to use that gap on certain body parts she can drive you wild...lol” 12:21:36 PM 2/19/05 “I just want a pair of those glasses...” 12:32:57 PM 2/19/05 “I sure like kickin hippies.” 12:39:52 PM 2/19/05 hey! Hey thats my girlfiend! “Hey quit maken fun of my girl friend, plus my mom would be pissed if I didnt stick up for my sister.” 8:39:57 PM 2/20/05 “Do people eat dirt where you come from, skully? Reason I ask is, my aunt used to be a nurse in a rehab home. Not a drug rehab place, but one of those places where you go when you're not well enough to go home, but not sick enough for the hospital. Anyway, she had an elderly black female patient once whose family was bringing her dirt from back home in South Alabama for her to eat. Some sort of backwoods medicine, I guess. My aunt said she did a little research and found that some of the clays down there contain a lot of essential minerals, so there was some method to their madness. Talk about organic. You can't get much more organic than dirt...” bitpusher 8:26:35 AM 7/30/02 Yeah, it’s called geophagy literally meaning "dirt or earth eater". I had a friend who did a paper on it in a Southeastern U.S. Geography class in college. Alabama is famous for some of its white clay dirt, number of geophapinist(sp?), and ignorance that is associated with the practice of it. The majority of which are black pregnant females as this has been passed down for generations from the African culture. The famous dirt looks like white chocolate and if I remember correctly it’s referred to as kayo clay. Also, I think it is where Kayopectate gets its name and essentially that's what you’re ingesting to cure diarrhea. Although there are some nutrients in dirt, the overwhelming majority cannot be absorbed. Thus, it lines the digestive tract inhibiting the body’s ability to absorb food and giving you a good case of constipation. Wow, after all the research papers required in that class and I only remember someone elses report, of course everyone got some dirt to sample. last edited: 2/21/05 12:09:56 PM” 12:08:38 PM 2/21/05 “I posted on another thread that I have subscribed to an organic vegetable service. They have 65 different veg and a weekly basket for a single person costs Cdn 15$. I'm going to raise chickiens with a buddy that started doing it last year. U don't have room and sha;; earn room in his shed by splitting the work with him so that we'll be able to take time off when the urge arises. My buddy sells eggs from 'free range' or cageless chickens and you just can't believe the difference - the yolks are dark yellow and are unbelievably meaty and tasty - higher in protein too, apparently. There are tons of organically raised beef/veal and lamb/goat operations here. Unfortunately, they must go to a regional abattoir where they are inspected before processing. I,m going to buy at least one lamb on the hoof and take care of it myself.” 3:44:40 PM 2/21/05 “th - that type of clay is also very common in cosmetics.” 3:51:44 PM 2/21/05 “Don't they use it in home wine making?” 3:58:20 PM 2/21/05 “I remember seeing that white clay for sale at the farmers market in Columbus, Ga when I was stationed at Fort Benning.” 4:02:22 PM 2/21/05
