Maybe we can plan a 2 nighter in the Pharoah Lakes Wilderness Area?

I may be game. I also want to hit the White Mountains in October. The good news is I get my vacation time October 10th, and have to burn all two weeks of it by the end of the year or I lose it. However, I have to reserve some time for a trip down to Florida in November to see family.

I guess what I'm saying is there's a good chance I could make it, but I have to sort out what I'm gonna do exactly.

Yo Mr.Prowler...
If you go to the Daks, you'll be driving pretty close to my new neck of the woods (hint hint).

There are other trails I had in mind to do myself in the Adirondacks besides Pharoah Lakes... There is a loop near Cranberry Lake called the Dog Pond Loop but its further up in the park near the NW corner. I figured the Pharoahs Lake area would just be more covenient for a group thing.

Either one actually. I'd personally prefer which ever has more elevation changes, but I'm not stingy on that. Haven't been to either one before so exploring new ground is enough for me. You can't go wrong with the 'Dacks.

I would describe it as a trip in progress. Distances can be altered. If we do the Pharaoh Lakes Area there is more of a chance of establishing a hike in base camp and have day trips-explorations from there.

I'll consider going but I won't be able to commit until the time gets pretty close. I really want to go back to NH in Oct. and probably cannot do both.

So put me on the maybe list, but it is a long shot.

I'll go out on a limb and say I'll probably be in for a 3 day Daks trip on those dates. I am hoping to have 2 weeks of vacation left to use in October. The weather is great and I love fall foliage.

I'll probably extend those 3 days to make a longer trip. If I decide on NH, I'd probably do NH before the 10-12 so as not to miss peak foliage. If I do the Maine coast, I'll extend it after.

Or, I might just say the heck with it all and go to VA/NC/TN for 2 weeks.

Twigeater is doing a trip at Baxter SP in Maine that same weekend. A hike to Katadyn, moose... sounds interesting.
