Hey, bud, you mentioned on another thread that you had built a kayak. I was wondering if you had;
a. built it from scratch (very impressive)
or
b. built it from a kit.
If from a kit, whose did you use? I am looking at either Pygmy or Cheasapeake Light Craft. I would like to hear about your boat and how you like it.

don;t be too impressed
Prowler is a louse and big fibber...he saw this kayak on the water and then he jumped into it and floated downstream...the owner never to see his beloved hand crafted machine again...I think we should beat Prowler up and steal the kayak for ourselves. I get the camper...you can have the kayak.

I used a mohagany Kit from Chesapeake Light Craft. You still have to stitch, corner seal, fiberglass corners, glue, glue and more glue......and so on.

But its fun!

I bought mine at Chesapeake Its 18 ft. sea yak. Took me two weeks, 60 hrs to complete. They say average to build is 50-60 hrs.

If you need some tips or tools email me, they get VERY expensive. I ended up spending $1800 for everything. Better seat, compass.

Notta!!!!! Its never been in the water!!LOL

I couldnt decid on stain or paint?? Or both!

But I've decided to paint the bottom as a todem pole and stain the rest of the boat. So when I role the todem pole design will stand out!

As soon as my sister starts on the design Ill take it out.

Cool! I've been looking at the Cheasapeake 17. When you finally get your boat in the water, give us a report.

great, just what we need.....

a mohagany boat we will have to drag out when Prowler starts scarfing up his breakfast on the Buffalo River.....

it will probably be waterlogged and weigh a ton

BTW, these boats are reputed to weigh about the same as their kevlar counterparts.

That's about the same as my 14 1/2' Perception Corona. They're supposed to be tough, too. I heard about a guy whose boat came off the rack while he was driving down the freeway and all it did was scratch the finish.
