Ok, fess up. Who has insurance on their pets? what do you all think about it? The vet told me to get one of my cats insured, but skip the other. The one is just not a genetically healthy cat. Who's got some info for me?

I think pets should have to file income tax returns and pay taxes on the food, medical care, and prescriptions they are provided. Animal rights/animal responsibility!

thrown in the water while being in a bag
oh did i say being tested on?
having the homeless use them so they can get more money and then not buying any food for the starving animal
being locked up and spend the rest of there lives in a 4x8 cage
ok im done

I Wish The Wife Had Insurance On The Dog
The oldest daughter let it out and it got into the neighbors yard.

The neighbors NEW dog got ahold of it and killed it. Thank god the kids didn't find it. It was a little white Westy and it was 10 years old. The kids wanted to go and kill the neighbors dog but we wouldn't let them. They go for over $500 these days.

The death of a dog I can deal with, the way it died and having to watch my kids and wife go through what they did kills me inside.

Insurance? Maybe on the next one, because there will be a next one, whether I want it or not.

you will need to see if it is even eligible. usually only AKC dogs or certain other type animals (i.e. horses, macaws, etc) will be considered an eligible risk.

you will need a Personal Articles Policy, sometimes called a Personal Articles Floater.

some companies will only cover the risk if they carry your personal lines homeowners insurance, also.

i need a beer.

health insurance is a whole different ballgame.

and liability IS usually covered under most regular personal lines homeowners policies.

must... get... beer.

this is the last bit...

see your agent for a copy of your policy book and see what is already covered.

I have insurance on my pets, it's called a .45 cal shell. It is about .35 cents and it pays off if the vet bill is over 100.00 for the dog and 25.00 for the cats.

Wish we had health insurance on my wife's dog. Spend more on it's health care than mine. (Hmmmm, wifey, dear . . . .)

What I understand you have to buy the insurance before the rodent, er pet, reaches 6 months.

Ask your vet WHY he/she recommends insurance on one pet and not the other. (Some breeds have 'expected' problems.)

She said Renee was a "loser" as in I'm going to lose a lot of money on her. She's three years old, and is generally healthy, but the vet just doesn't think she's a genetically strong cat, since she's had so many problems. She reacts terribly to all her vaccinations, had what seemed to be incurable diahrea when I first got her, and already has horrible teeth, generally a sign of bad health. Vet figures she'll lose all her teeth before she dies. The vet is an older lady, and somewhat specializes in cats, and feels that this is just going to be a problem cat as she gets older. She told me not to get insurance for the routine vaccinations, just for accidents and illnesses. I trust her judgement.

Doesn't sound like anyone has bought health insurance for their pets. I was wondering if anyone was happy with the company and/or policy they chose. The premium is less than $10 a month for the one the vet recommended to me.

We, too, are considering insurance on the latest addition to our little family. The vet and a co-worker both said it would cost around $100 per year. I've known people that have dropped thousands on their dogs when they got sick/old and thought they were crazy. Now, $8 a month does not sound like too much for the greatest dog in the world!

(I gotta get a free photo site - I'd love to show him off!)
