?? “I've got a friend going north early this Winter-He will have just a few days-any suggestions for Day hikes or maybe a quick overniter?” 7:21:07 PM 8/11/02 Uh... “...more info please.” 7:44:38 PM 8/11/02 “The Adirondack Park is huge! Might be best for your friend to focus on an area, or a couple of mountains. I always go to the High Peaks Region (just got back from 5 days of dayhiking there). Consider getting one of the ADK Trail Guide and Map Sets -- they have a set for every section. And be advised that Winter comes early there. Skis, snowshoes and/or crampons are required on many trails -- especially in the High Peaks region. If you can be more specific, I might be able to help you out on trails, trail conditions, camping spots, water sources, etc.” 1:24:53 PM 8/12/02 “MS - how did I miss you? ;) I was on Marcy on Tuesday. Were you near there?” 1:44:23 PM 8/12/02 “Fritz - he was the one getting innocent bystanders to take group pictures while taking 20 minutes to organize the group shot, and at the same time demanding that the 'photographer' include Sparky. Once a wedding photographer, always..... ;o)” 6:30:18 PM 8/12/02 “Pennsy: Don't make fun ;-) Fritz: I drove up there on Wednesday. Stayed at a NY state camp ground near Whiteface (I don't care what the purists say about state park camping -- there's nothing like a soothing shower after a long, hot, sweaty hike!) I did two 46er peaks each on Thurs (Street & Nye), Fri (Esther & Whiteface), and Sat (Cascade & Porter), then drove back home on Sunday. I'm now up to 31 on the 46er List ...I'm a 31er! (and it only took me 22 years). I saw your post before you left, but my trip didn't come together until late Monday. And had I been there on Tuesday anyway, our trails wouldn't have crossed -- except for maybe if we decided to meet at a restaurant in Lake Placid. Maybe next time?” 8:37:51 PM 8/12/02
