Got NEW Trail Shoes

“Went to "the world's largest shoestore" as claimed by Reyer's in downtown Sharon, PA to look at some footwear. I specifically went to check out the New Balance shoes but they had just over a dozen trail running shoes (aside from boots).

I ended up trying on 5 different trail shoes and ended up with brown-colored Merrell Reflex', those babies compared to the rest fit like a glove from the moment I slipped them on. Timberland had a pair that were light as a feather with a sole lugged to the T, but just didn't seem to fit as my foot liked to slide around in them no matter how tight they were laced. I was disappointed at the New Balance 805s (evidently the 804s have been discontinued from what I was told), although they were advertised as trail runners, they had practically no sole worthy of grip on loose gravel/dirt/etc as they were more flat than lugged. The 715s were OK but just didn't fit.

I wouldn't have bought a pair if none fit, after all I was there to wishshop, but those Merrells just felt so comfy and fit so well I just had to have them for the trail. Can't wait to get out there and put them to use!!!”

“NB 804's are last year's model of the 805. They change the numbers every year.

Merrel makes a comfy boot; I bet those shoes are like slippers. Cool beans!”

“Buddur, I purchased a pair of Merrell Baja Ventilators this spring. Man, they're like bedroom slippers and are wearing well!

I've always been a Vasque supporter but sold on Merrells now.”

“I wore them on a long walk tonight through the rain and dang do they feel comfortable. They got all wet quickly and I think conformed to me feet rather quickly too, but the footbed is already so form-fitting and just comfortable as all get out. They weren't even the first 4-5 shoes I wanted to try after looking over all my choices over, but when I tied them on there was no doubt which I'd buy. I'm so happy!!!

I looked at the ventilators on Merrell's website and would of rather chose them because of the breathable materials, but I care more about the fit overall. The ones I got are all nubuck/pigskin leather, but believe me, I ain't complaining.”

I bought the same shoes (though color was different - 'birch') in April. They really fill pretty good. Wore mostly casually, sometimes for easy hikes. In late June noticed the sole was full of cracks, both on right and left shoes. Hope they`ll make it to the end of the season...”

“if i get a pair wet and wear them dry, the fit is superior. faster.

dom has a very good point. but i did use the "sqeaky wheel" bit at galayn. they greased me w/a full refund on my asolo (1mnth old and felt like wood)and $50off some lowa.

“I surfed thru Sierra Trading Post's site today, they still have Raichle Mtn Trekkers in some sizes at killer price. I got the last pair of 13's they had, or so they said, but they had some 14's, and 7.5-9 or so.”

“When I bought my wife her hiking boots at REI, I noticed a flyer in the box that said "Merrell" on it. I asked the sales clerk if Merrell was the company who made REI's boots and he said they were.
