I found this today.
What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset." Crowfoot,

Only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence.

Ah, well, strat...as long as he was well hung (hung well?).

You know that's right, Pathman. My favorite times of day are twilight and early morning just before the sun comes up. You live near Albuquerque? I'm thinking of heading that direction, some day. I am in dire need of getting back to my southwestern roots. I've even redecorated my house in a southwestern motif, LOL. Very strange sight in Alabama.

I have found for me that solitude means. I don't have to worry about anything. Weather I'm kaykaing down a stream, riding my mountain bike, or hiking. Just being outside and only hearing the birds and the rivers flow. I feel like I'm in total nirvana.

Pathman - I see that's the time that you get on TT - much like me.

A little less sleep is worth the small hours alone.

For me it`s sittin` in the dark, watchin` the end of my cigarette glow
a cup of coffee in my hand and pushing the fire back to life, with my toe
it`s listening to the sounds of nature carried to me on the wind
or, being alone with myself, long enough for my broken heart to mend
it`s laying on a blanket, late at night, watching the stars and moon above
it`s any time I find, or take time to reflect on life and the things I love

Solitude is found.
Solitude is found when you get old like my car. It's when you're pale and have lost your luster, and no longer glisten. Your wrinkles reveal signs of exposure to the elements and, possibly, some crunching. Your joints make audible groans and noises when they move. You require additives with your fluids and you experience some leakage. All your parts get stiff except the one which you would like to get stiff. Your movements are unsteady and your connecting rod is bent. Yes, solitude is found when you get old like my car.

Nowslimmer, I know a poem that you would really appreciate. I'll find it and post it on here. It's by e.e. cummings.

I'm here at the office on a Saturday morning ... no one else around.

I can think without having someone interupt me.

That's solitude!

newgirl - Thanks, that was good. Mine was from a reollection of something I heard as a kid. It was about, "Will you love me when I';m old and ..." and went on in the same manner.

Thanks, Father Goose. However, there are some days when I wonder.

Here's another one for you, nowslimmer (you can adjust the age);

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a Valentine,
birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out 'till quarter to three, would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Hmm------mmm---mmmh.
You'll be older, too.
Aaah, and if you say the word, I could stay with you.

I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside, sunday mornings, go for a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
if it's not to dear. We shall scrimp and save.
Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck, and Dave.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

I love that song FatherGoose. I played that for this dumb boyfriend I had in junior high (I know, I was a little over the top, but I thought we would be together forever, hehehe). Anyway, he started laughing and asked me what dumb band thought they were going to sell albums w/ songs like that on them. I laughed back at him (knowingly) and dumped him a wk. later. I met a boy who knew about the Beatles.

Interesting that your ex-boyfriend would make a statement like that, considering that song was a hit before either of you were born. He must have been raised in a remote cave in Outer Mongolia not to have heard of the Beatles. You were certainly justified in dumping his lame @ss.

I just played the song, never said who the band was. Then when he started laughing and didn't seem to know who the band was (which I thought was obvious and decided not to reveal who the "dumbies" were), I knew we weren't met to be. LOL!
