“I got some e-mail via HotMail from a fellow TTer. I rarely get e-mail to my Hotmail account and hardly ever check it. The sender let it be know that other TTers had received a similar correspondence from him. Well, today I checked for new mail and had received something new; a fwd with the description of the previous days message. I thought "Oh cool, I don't recognize the person, but it must be one of the fellow TTers because of the topic. Well, it happens to be sh1t spam. More of this garbage. Now how does someone get to know the subject line of e-mail I've received? I feel so dirty (and betrayed) having opened that crap.”

“I think Hotmail is in cahoots with the spammers.”

“They must be......I get so much spam in the HotMail Box that it is worthless.”

“You put those things into the junk mail filter and the next day the same message turns up with one character changed in the address line. Instead of 2qpmd78@yahoo.com it's 2qpmd79!”

“Yeah, but they had the subject line from an e-mail I received from a known party.”

“They actually had one message to me from me. How they do that?”

“That I can recognize as junk!!!”

“Yes, but I also took out a yahoo account that I am thinking of going over to.”

“I haven't seen that trick yet. I hope you have your virus protection updated because it could be some type of virus from that other person's machine (that's how the subject was known). I'm only wildy speculating. You know that email is not exactly secure don't you?”

“I only use hotmail for order confirmations, required registrations and the like. The spam is un-freakin-believable.”

“I too got the same Email (I think) from a fellow TTer, it was for a chat room. I thought it was rather strange since we've never really spoken on a personal level.”

addressing can be spoofed as can any other header. I get stuff all the time that way. If yer using outlook well... too bad. More then likely someone has a virus. Grabbing a random e-mail from outlook and remailing it with a little something extra is an old script-kiddie trick. all too easy to do.”

“I have recieved emailed spam from myself too. I figure that either I have had some varient of the Klez virus which is spoofing addy's from my adress book or it's someone else who has my addy on their outlook that has the virus. Either way, since I got an anti-virus program I haven't recieved any spam from a known email addy anymore.”

“I prefer Yahoo at least they have a bulk eamil folder and you don't have to even read the mess just delete it all at one...

Instead it lets you search by domain, such as all the addresses under hotmail.com, yahoo.com, aol.com, and msn.net. You aren't able to search for specific people, you just get a list of everyone that uses that domain.”
