PET PEEVES

“just saw "i am legend" starring will smith. this touches on a few pet peeves. i'll start with one im glad DIDNT appear, and thats will smith playing the fresh prince on the big screen for the 3000th time. him and tom cruise, i swear, theyre good actors, but 95 percent of the time, they play the same damn character...cocky young fighter pilot....cocky cop who fights crime with wisecracks and a wacky partner....etc....feh.....which is very closely related to another peeve of mine, the "let's put an urban young black male with a funky fresh attitude into our otherwise lame-ass movie. the kids'll eat it up" approach to movie-making. glad they didnt do that

on sort of the flip-side, i also hate it when you have a black actor in a re-make of some movie, and some ingorass hick complains "i aint got nuttin against (insert black actor name), and i aint a racist, but (insert white character from a staple of classic television or movies) should be played by a white person", when usually it doesnt matter one iota. so what if "the honeymooners" starred cedric the entertainer? black people cant have domestic problems and crazy schemes and drive a bus? yea, yea, sometimes skin color matters. i for one dont want to see jim carrey as kunta kinte, but be real, if its not a race-specific role, it shouldnt matter”

“How original.  Did they have Anthony Zerbe in whiteface as the head zombie?   How about a cameo at least?

I saw the "boldly reimagined" Wizard of Oz last week.   It had its moments, but if these people are so loaded with imagination, why don't they start with something new?   It reminds me of the turkeys who 'sample' other people's music because they don't have a clue how to make their own.

“I have a really big peeve.... tomcats that roam the neighborhood and haven't been neutered... actually I should say owners who don't get their pets neutered... one sprayed our wooden door on Monday morning. What a stench. I got rid of the smell with a concoction of vinegar, orange oil and eucalyptus oil. This morning the cat showed up again (he has a collar - so not a stray) - I got him with a Super Soaker water gun - lol. I think a few shots of water and he'll get the hint - I hope.”

“There's some feral cats around here that are slowly getting acclimated to people. Soon they'll have their gnops gnipped and all their shots, but still live around here.”

“Noncon just reminded me of another peeve: We're in the middle of a very severe drought and the weathermen are whining "OH, when will the (possible) rain and cloudy weather end?!?"”
