setting up 1 thread with links to all the others
It has become a cluster#&%!$ trying to keep all the traffic in one place regarding this event. I have taken it upon myself, since TD is away, on a secret government mission, to set up one master thread with links to the other sites.

I guess that many of us have tried to contact various organizations in an attempt to acquire sponsorships. In an effort to gain support, professionalism is a key to that goal...so I would invite and CHALLENGE all of you to keep this particular thread active and alive, as well as clean and neat. I will be directing business owners and cable network officials (that's my business) to this website and this thread...so, use your best judgement on posts...PLEASE!

subsequent thread regarding this event

another thread

publicity chair report thread

gear swap thread

who is coming thread

who is coming thread

TC2 survey thread

Towndawgs "thankyou" thread

TC2 update thread

prize patrol thread

I hope that I set up all the various threads correctly.

We can continue to post on the other threads as they pertain to the topic at hand. But please keep this thread alive and refer any outside parties to it...it just makes sense to have one place to direct folks to.

Thanks to Baume66, for getting the threads up again so that I could do this.

I look forward to seeing everyone again, and making the acquaintence of those yet to meet.

Have a lovely day...now to some real work.

I'm not perfect...
at least not today. The first link does not work...LOL...

Try this one to get to the very most important history of this event

Sorry for the mess up. But its early and only one cup of coffee yet. #2 is coming NOW!

ok, they all work...
lets see if we can make this thing rise to the top every day...thanks.

I will endeavor to craft a VERY nice hiking stik commemorating the event. This will go to the overall winner of the contest. What will determine the "grand winner" will need to be determined by the event co-ordinators. At sometime in the future, I will link up photo's of some of my work. It won't be anything shabby, though, I promise. I would make a stik for each catagory, but I am not set up for true production. I am taking an artists sabatacle for a few years and I am in the middle of it, but will break out the equipment to make one, really nice peice. I hope that will satisfy.

For those outside of Trail Talk...
...and coming here to check and see what this event is about.

WELCOME!!!

I am not the organizer. That title goes to our very own, TownDawg and Josh_Man.

In nutshell...this event will be held December 7, 2002 in the "BigSouth Fork National Recreation area. We have acquired and rented the "Charrit Creek Lodge" for this event. The monies needed for rental were gathered from our own roster of TT'ers. As you read through the various threads, you will see that we are a group of serious outdoors enthusiasts with a wicked sense of humor. Many of us have met on the trail and have formed strong friendships. Others are strictly "online" friends who have yet to meet in person.

You will find that, for the most part, we are all gear heads and spend our available (and unavailable) monies on GEAR!

This event will be something to remember, that is for sure. Towndawg has raised a considerable amount of money (and invested alot of his own, too) and time to make this event truely memorable and special...for those of you thinking of becoming sponsors...THANK YOU!!!, For those of you thinking of joining in and participating, DO IT!!!, you will not be sorry.

Use the links, Read the threads, and ask questions...someone will get back to you.

Might we also suggest a moratorium on troll-flaming on this thread? Someone posting here might be a potential sponsor, and we don't want to make them feel unwanted.

Cable TV Networks
I have reached out to my contacts at Outdoor Life Network, The Outdoor Channel, TV Food and The National Geographic Channel. I'm not sure where this will lead to...prizes possibly, and a program recording by TV Food...how cool would that be? I don't know if anything will materialize, but...It doesn't cost anything to ask, and...if you do not play...you can not win...stay tuned for futher developments.

Are you refering to to the Food Network as TV Food or is that a different channel/show?

The Food Network is one of my favorite channels!

miss opie
The tv food network is the only food network...so the answer to your question...is Yes.

I will be acquiring some nice items from my above mentioned networks and provide them to TD. I already have commitments from OLN, and I have talked with the VP of Programming at OLN...he is sending me the forms necessary for program suggestions. That would be too cool, to have the networks there filming for a show...I can't and won't promise anything, but, I'm workin on it. At the least, I will have my recording camera from my office with me to do some videographing

sponsors
they won't be selling anything. But you can get onto the network websites and go to the individual stores and buy stuff from them.

I purchased a LeCruset TVFood tea pot...reall nice. But I also get some great gifts from them during the year. Like a Olympus 380 digital camera...exchanged it for the c-700 at walmart, and paid the difference.

I appreciate the effort here, but I -- for one -- am really in the dark on what's happening. And hate to have to wade through 23 threads. Is there a web page?

(hint, hint)

I've been to Big South Fork and it's very nice!

Can you imagine being snow bound in a remote location with a group from TT.

I can imagine how we explain this to OLN,......."oh yea, gee, I love going way out in the woods with a bunch of people I met on the internet......maybe it will come a big storm and we will get stuck..."

ok, who have I talked with
National Geographic...gifts being sent

USA network...eco challenge gifts...maybe, if there are any left.

Outdoor Channel...gifts being sent

Outdoor Life...gifts being sent and I am going to do the paperwork for program recording.

TV Food...no gifts, but I will continue to work on that, but I will follow the trail to propose a show, and try to get Keith Famie...who does the "adventure" show. I have emailed his people, first step.

Wish me luck.

Lizs...stop being a baby, and come out and play. The place is paid for (pretty much) and its open to all. I called Charit Creek, the hike is a peice of cake.

Later all...I'm goin white water rafting...By God, west virginia...here I come.

Bravo-stikmon you are a god!
You are the MAN-Td is on assignment to the nether reaches in search of a site for TC3-
We have been negligant-in not keeping the thread/threads updated-
But we must live life outside of cyberspace....
Towndawg is the founder and guru-
Tc2 is an excuse for all TT'ers to get get together share a meal and perhaps compete for some prizes.
Last year we had a crew of 35-45 dependng on who you ask attend the first Titanium Chef-We hope for MANY more this year and to turn this into an annual event, perhaps even to have regional Tc "competitions"- the contest for cooking is the inspiration-
The fellowship is the core issue-
breaking bread with people of like interests is a wonderful thing.
As to prizes -we accept any type of donation-gear outfitters-cable channels -people who make things-anything is welcome and will be awarded to those who attend. We will expose those who donate via several websites-on a radio station and ALL will pass the word on to all of their friends-the absolute best advertising available.
We hope any one will come- the lodge is booked-the area is in a National River & Rec area so- you can camp wild with Leave No Trace rules. It will be a huge time.
A hat will be passed to attempt cover the expenses-donations will not be required-but will be encouraged-
Inside digs -reservations will be asked to pay $15.00 a head for reservations inside-(48 BUNKS ACCORDING TO THE CHARIT CREEK LODGE WEBSITE)
If you are flying in-we will work out transportaion with us locals to get you there & back-
Nashville is the biggest airport but Memphis & Knoxville have people already on board-

Thanks again to Stikmon & Khatru for consolidating the threads-

Oh by the way -Big South Fork is beautiful-the hiking is great and accessable to all.
You can be challenged or cruise in.

And everyone who came last year left with a little something courtesy of Blue Ridge Mountain Sports

Have you spoken to the folks at the lodge lately?

What will we do if we want to come in 12/06---???
How close will we be able to set up
to the lodge site if you don't want to sleep inside?
Do we need to check in at the Bandy Creek Ranger Station for permits?
Inquiring minds want to know....

true, true, chili...

It brings to mind a similar phrase from Russian. Apparently, in Russian, when you want to say that a couple has been fornicating, and you want to be polite and not use the Russian word "yob" (you can guess which one that is), you say that they have been "taking a stroll together in bed".

As a prize-I have secured from Schlage Hardware a Solid Brass entry handleset---A $190.00 retail value---good for locking up your gear.

latest news from stikamp...
Hey guys/gals...just returning from vaca to west "by god" virginia...I survived the nasty white water...cool stuff.

Anyway...I have the paperwork from OLN to fill out for show proposals. I am having sent to me, the same paperwork for show proposal for the TV Food Network. I spoke with The Outdoor Channel...and am gonna "TRY" to entice them to bring the official OUtdoor Channel RV to the event...no guarantees there, but you can not win, if you do not play...and asking is free.

I have received some nice prizes from National Geographic...and great sweatshirt, cool duffle bag, child's bib outfit (2), and a great video entitled "Into the forbidden zone". TD I'll get them to you some how, cause I'll be derned if I'm gonna pack them in.

I will begin the hiking staff the day before the event...nothing like last minute pressure to make me motivated and inspired (that's why I stopped making them, too many deadlines).

I sent out a proposal for sponsorship to OUtdoors Inc in Memphis, I;ll follow up on that next week.

I will keep ya all posted on network developments.

Again, lets keep this thread focused on the event, cause if it becomes a joke, and network people want to check us out and they read nonsense, then nothing will happen, so...use your common sense...sorry to be a spoil sport, for those of you who have met me, know that I love to have fun, but this is almost business...so lets keep it that way.

TD, glad to see you back...would you please call me...do you still have my #. I can't email ya, cause your box was full.

your right about keeping this thread "normal" but if the potential sponsers read any of the other threads on this site, then heck, their gone as fast as a fart in a whirlwind.

But bottom line, is that all of us freaks spend a lot of money to enjoy the great outdoors.
