“I'm planning a 4-5 day photo safari to the Pac. NW., and was wondering if anyone had any particular suggestions. Two+ days of my trip must be spent driving to and from, due to my location in Northern Utah. I was thinking perhaps Olympic Ntl. Park, and maybe the Oregon Coast. Any suggestions for drop dead landscapes? I'm listening.” 7:44:32 PM 8/16/02 “try along the trinity river in way north california and into oregon :)” 7:49:19 PM 8/16/02 “Are you gonna be doing a lot of driving or hiking? I could give you a lot of ideas within a couple hours of Portland. I'm sure the PNWers could direct you to more places, though. I could probably drive some maps up to you, if you're interested. I haven't been up in your neighborhood for a while.” 9:34:34 PM 8/16/02 “It's a car trip all the way. Primary objective is capturing some great images for my portfolio. I haven't shot a roll of film in months, and I'm having withdrawals.” 12:45:39 PM 8/18/02 “Hey hobbit, what route will you be taking into Oregon? If you come up through Nevada and into SE Oregon, check out the Steens. You could then swing through Bend and Sisters for an awesome view of the Three Sisters. Head north from there to Mt. Hood. There are various places on the coast with some great scenery but nothing I would call awesome. For Washington I'd for sure take in Mt. Rainier and if you can get farther north Mt. Baker. Of course the Olympic NP is great but I don't know how much you'd be able to see by just driving.” 1:03:20 PM 8/18/02 “One more ... If you are coming in via N. Cal, try Lassen National Park. There is some real good scenery right along the park road. You could even take a quick run up the peak for some real drop dead photos. The trail up is a highway and the parking lot sits around 8000' if I remember right.” 1:06:34 PM 8/18/02 enchantment basin “just did an awesome trip to enchantments in alpine lakes wilderness off wa...access via leavenworth...and they give away 25% of the permits each morning at 7:45 on the steps of the ranger station there...stiff climb of 13oo to 6-7800 ft depending on where you select to camp tombone” 4:19:48 PM 8/18/02
