I hope you dont actually believe that crop circles are the work of et.... several persons have in fact confessed and even demonstrated how they made them.

I was by a campground, trees everywhere, and I needed to get my GPS ready to roll for geocaching there. It was a county park. The trees were blocking reception.

LO AND BEHOLD, I could see a path leading to an oatfield, just beyond the trees. I followed it, squeezed through the weeds at the break in the trees.

AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY IN A CROP CIRCLE! EGADS!!! The oats were flattened in a circle probably 15 feet across.

AND THEN TO MAKE IT WORSE... a small plan flew over. And I figured someone would report me to local officials!! (or maybe it was the [creatures] keeping track of who had seen it.

I beelined it outta there, GPS working. BUT I WAS SO BADLY SHAKEN BY WHAT I'D SEEN.

snicker.... snicker ;-)

I saw some once while living in Ireland. Freaky looking things, I remebered thinking when I was a kid. Now, I think it's creepy that someone would go to such trouble to get some attention.

It's All True.....
Just yesterday, a radio talk show had a "crop circle" researcher talk about them. Seems like the "circles" have been around over 70 years....if I remember correctly, it could be over hundreds of years. Some circles cannot be seen from the road...only the farmer and/or locals would know of them...they were not done for monetary gain.

Some researchers have placed compasses in the center of those circles. The compass would spin or deviate constantly. Plus some of their watches would stop.

The guest on the talk show said that one of his colleague was doing research in a Scottish farm...as she was interviewing the farming family...a bright beam of light shone down from the sky 30 feet away and the crops were all flattened. It all happened in less than 10 seconds. Naturally, she and her team raced to the scene...it was very warm and steam was raising from the circle. Btw, there were other accounts of these circles being formed in under 10 seconds. Freaky. The researcher gave out his website...www.geocity.cropcircles/qc/ca if I remember correctly.

Crop circles must piss off farmers cause that is some of their income being flattened out.

I heard that about 80% are man made and the other 20% have actually had cellular level changes in the plants involved in the circle. Skeery. Lyra, you hate Mel-baby? Why?

oh, yay! so there is hope. thanks, newgirl. i don't know why i don't like him, really. well, IMHO, he can't act his way out of a paper bag, for one thing. i don't see the "hotness" everyone else does, either, although like you, i can totally appreciate hotness in older dudes.

I must not know enough about acting. I think he's really good. I agree that he's not a babe though. His MT ranch is just a little ways from my Great Grandma's ranch. My aunt sometimes helps brand his cattle.

oh, i don't know anything about acting either, don't listen to me. your aunt brands his cattle? wild! i don't know why, but that phrase just strikes me as absolutely hilarious :-)

just because we don't agree about Mel's acting "capability" is no need to be getting nasty, newgirl.

now, that's more like it.

and speaking of movies, i tried to get Repo Man over the weekend, but it was rented out, so i got 10 Things I Hate About You. that usually wouldn't be my type of movie, but since it's based on The Taming of the Shrew, i thought i should get it for posterity's sake. you should have heard Tarpy harping about that one, LOL! he kept saying, "Are they going to do it yet?" and fast-forwarding it. hahahahaha!! i have to admit, it wasn't the breast movie ever.

I'm not a fan of that movie either. Dumb. That would be my word for it. My mom, on the other hand, thinks it's great.

I was going to see Signs this weekend...but the cinema's air conditioning was broken. So I saw Pluto Nash instead...movie sucked. I only saw it because I did some "extra" work for that movie...didn't see myself though.

Anyone who thinks that all crop circles are the product of hoaxsters should read The Crop Circular.

There are big differences between a "real" crop circle (whatever that is) and a hoaxed one.

I Didn't Scream.....
Two scenes where I jumped...the part where the little girl was giving water to their German Shepard...he stood up and growled/barked real loud. And the part where Mel Gibson was sticking the knife under the door and the green claw shot out. I think half the audience screamed at those scenes. Cool film....could've made the ending of the invasion a bit more dramatic.
