“I signed on to AOL just after completing my first back pack trip of any length, think it was 40-45 miles. I was so full of myself over that, wanted to use just Hiker, that was taken so started adding descriptive elements to "hiker." LD was for Long Distance, thinking that was an incredible distance,and the first combination that was available.

I'm due for a change tho. Changing up to cable service this coming week and will drop the "handle" and go to first initial and surname, SRedfield. Maybe the "handle" thing has passed, sort of like the
CB thing of several years ago.”
