MSR Hydramedary (Water Bags)View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 10 of 10 messages posted.
Dag Freakin Nabbit “My DAMN hydromedary lite is leaking from the threads of the little cap that screws onto the larger cap. I use that thing on every dayhike, backpacking trips included, but I've only had it for maybe about a year. I figured I'd puncture the bag loooong before the cap(s) wore out. Now, no matter how tight I screw the small cap on, when pressure is put on the bag, water leaks. UGH!!! Maybe a strip of plastic wrapped around the threads then screwing the cap on will work. And maybe a letter to the manufacturer is in order too. I always have sworn by these water containers...now I'm swearing at one.” 9:50:56 PM 8/18/02 “"And maybe a letter to the manufacturer is in order too." Contact MSR and see if they will offer you a replacement cap or new bag ...couldn't hurt!” 10:18:03 PM 8/18/02 “Buddur, GIVE UP ON HYDRATION BAGS! THEY DON'T WORK FOR YOU! LOL!” 10:21:34 PM 8/18/02 teflon tape “i don't know just a thought. you probably wouldn't be able to keep opening and closing the little cap but it might stop the leaking.” 10:56:40 PM 8/18/02 Two words... “Nalgene bottle...” 11:21:17 PM 8/18/02 “MSR has always had a awesome rep for backing their stuff. Shoot em a email and I bet they'll send you a new cap for free.” 11:51:40 PM 8/18/02 “they will. defective material/workmanship w/in 1 year.” 12:12:59 AM 8/19/02 “I think there is a small O ring in the small cap that connects to the elbow and it might be torn. I would think that they would send you a new one.” 6:31:56 AM 8/19/02 “One of the MSR bags I bought had a defective cap also. The mold cavity did not completely fill when they injection molded the cap. Take a look at the cap and see if it has any weak spots. Since mine was brand new I sent it back for an exchange. See if you can file the cap to get a better seat or send it back for your money.” 6:47:51 AM 8/19/02 “my dromalite leaked a little on our MY trip. i had inadvertanly left the lid too loose( if i think about it long enough, i could think of a reason to blame it on garfum. they'll replace it. tell um a big sob story bout how yer $400 down sleepin bag got waterlogged & you had to sleep in it that way......” 7:24:09 AM 8/19/02
