This happened down the street from my house. The rain they had was severe thunderstorms with torrential downpours

Family found after Lost in the woods

Family Safe After Night Lost in the Woods

It's a survival story with an unlikely cast of characters.
A great grandmother, a grandson and three great grand kids. All lost, forced to spend the night in the woods. Rescuers found them this morning in Promised Land State Park.
Newswatch 16's Danielle Schlesier talked with the family today after their ordeal.
She caught up with the cousins from Philadelphia as they played with Annie - the search dog that found them.

The ordeal began at the family's cabin. Bertha Waters explains she wanted to
take the kids for 15 minute walk, but 40 minutes later she knew she was lost.
Rescuers searched a night. Waters says she heard the helicopters but when night fell she
couldn't even see her hand in front of her.
The group ate berries and drank rain water, which fell on them throughout the night.
"But I tore up branches from the evergreen trees and put it over them. They slept really soundly most of the night" Bertha said. All were okay after their night in the woods.

sounds like she knew what to do
kept the kids dry at least, not bad for great grandma, mine would have never even taken me into the woods
