Nwihbc TT backpacking trip for 2003. “Hey TT'ers whats going on?I want to get a TT trip for next year. The trip is going to be 5 days 4 nights and has to be out west where the hights will get above 10000 feet. I am open to any ideas.I am now makeing the clubs 2003 trip planner and would like some ideas for 1 or 2 week long trips? 8D” 9:48:07 PM 8/20/02 “i thought we were doing the winds......” 9:55:40 PM 8/20/02 “That sounds like a good one I want the ideas to flood in! Keep it going! Give me more! 8D” 9:56:42 PM 8/20/02 “Rahwah Wilderness. Eastern slopes of the Colorado Rockies. West of Fort Collins.” 10:37:25 PM 8/20/02 “If you come to CA, I'll help work out a route. Come in the winter and we'll go snowboarding, snowshoeing, hot tubbing . . . .” 2:47:54 AM 8/21/02 “I'm not sure exactly what hot tubbing invovles however if it goes in the line with snow shoeing and snowboardnig I would guess that it would mean to strap hot tubs to your feet and either slide down a hill or walk around in the snow. AM I CLOSE?” 3:11:43 AM 8/21/02 “Oops! That was meant to be snowboarding, snowshoeing, skiing or whatever during the day, camp out in Long Valley and soak in the natural hot tubs at night. Better?” 3:21:58 AM 8/21/02 “Snow Nymph now that sounds like FUN! 8D” 6:04:39 AM 8/21/02 “Pecos Wilderness should be on your list of consideration. Most of the trails are 9000+/-, you can get above 12,000 or 13,000 if you want to bag a few peaks. GORP, Pecos Wilderness” 6:36:02 AM 8/21/02 “Why does it "have" to be out west? No one likes the east side of the country?” 7:17:30 AM 8/21/02 How about the Teton Crest Trail! “.....you know, the winds sound great also.” 8:08:35 AM 8/21/02 How's about the Lemhi Range, ID? “Never heard of it? Exactly. S-o-l-i-t-u-d-e, with 11,000 ft. peaks.” 9:14:18 AM 8/21/02 “The Wasatch Range in Utah breaks 10K in several places and I really enjoyed the hikes there. I only had time for day hikes, but plan on returning next May for a 3 or 4 day hike.” 9:20:40 AM 8/21/02 “The west is the best! 8D” 11:29:30 AM 8/21/02 “I was just checking out some maps for the Emigrant Wilderness yesterday (immediately north of Yosemite NP). There are lots of options there. One that I looked at would be a point-to-point of about 45 miles with a bunch of elevation gain from miles 10-15 or so, then mostly "downhill" the rest of the way. I've done a fair amount of backpacking there, although most of it within about 10 miles from a trailhead. The terrain is somewhat similar to what you see in the Snow people's photos of the southern Sierra, but maybe a bit more water. I like the lack of bushes, etc., so you can do lots of cross country stuff pretty easily. Some of the trailheads are only about 3 hours from the SF Bay Area.” 12:03:20 PM 8/21/02 “BTW, CMB, just watched "Hoosiers" the other night (again). Do backpackers in Indiana carry their basketballs with them on the trail?” 12:05:29 PM 8/21/02 “I was kinda hoping to have something develop in the eastern part of the country but there is no reason I can't tag along on two trips. If people will be flying into Sacramento I can shuttle and put up (with) TT'ers. I don't have any bright ideas of good trips but I guess I could start thinking about it.” 12:24:26 PM 8/21/02 “Maybe Hodgeman can guide us to Canada. (I love volunteering other people)” 12:28:16 PM 8/21/02 “No we don't carry a ball with us and I just have a 1,000,000 ideas on where to plan this trip. 8D” 4:23:43 PM 8/21/02 Wydaho? “Gojo - tell us more about the Lemhi Range. Is there a trail system? Ya got a good link for info on this area?” 5:15:41 PM 8/21/02 “I too would like to hear more about this place. 8D” 5:21:40 PM 8/21/02
