“I could almost do this, but that weekend is the Ark.-Ole Miss football game and I have tickets. If the dates change for some reason I may be able to swing it.”

“Pepperdog, I already have Mondays off. I won't have to work again until the following thursday, so whenever you need to come back is fine.”

“Cool!! I will ask for October 25th and 28th off work and we can work around that.”

“I'm in Sac too but not sure I can take off both Friday and Monday. May just drive down with the missus and mutt in tow (dog friendly area?). We can figure it out as we get closer to the date.
25-27 looks like a go!”

“I am thinking that if some people can get there early enough on Friday they can hike to the first camp site then spend Saturday day hiking while the rest of the group hikes up. I am going to be hiking out on Monday so maybe people get to stay that extra day can work out something similar on the other end. I really don't want to splinter the group too much though.”

I doubt that Drunken Sailor Lake is big enough for a drunken sailor to get into too much trouble, maybe that is the point - the perfect place for a drunken sailor.”

“Pepper, the 1st camp site is Blue Lk. which IMHO would be the best place to base camp. Then set up day hikes, for those who want or have the time, to Midnight Lk, Topsy Turvy Lk., Dingleberry Lk., Emerald Pools, or Baboon Lk.”

“Blue Lake will be like LA since its so close to the trailhead. This is the outlet. If we stay here we should go towards the south end in the trees. Not as pretty as the outlet, but less traffic

Dingleberry Lake, would get you away from the crowds

any of the lakes just past Dingleberry and you'll be in a basin of lakes surrounded by jagged peaks of the Sierra Crest

Moonlight Lake is more secluded, but its a scramble the last 15 min or so

There's a nice area by the waterfall, but it might be tight with all the tents.”

“I never had a crowd at Blue Lk. But it would be tight for 14 people.”

“Snow did you say Dingleberry Lake?? I thought I'd heard it all!”

“I just made a map at REI of this area so I am commencing to drool. Has anyone gone past Blue Lake to Donkey and Baboon Lakes? That might be more hiking in trees than some people like.

By the way, this map just identifies Sailor Lake, not Drunken Sailor Lake - maybe this is the is the PG rated map. But Dingleberry is here in all it's glory.”

“Blue Lake is only 3 miles in. We will not even be breaking a sweat at that point. I would suggest we at least backpack into Dingleberry. If anyone feels they might not be up to more than 3 miles we can arrange gear to help out. Let's look at our maps again.”

“I like the idea of hiking to Dingleberry and using that as a base for dayhiking as many days as people can stay. It looks like there is easily 2 days of exploring up there, especially if we weren't carrying full packs.”

“Dingleberry lake to the main basin has lots of lakes to explore

- Midnight lake to Hell Diver Lakes
- Midnight lake, over the low pass between Midnight and Hungry Packer, to Drunken Sailor Lake, to Moonlight Lake, down the waterfall and towards Topsy Turvey lake and back.
- Moonlight Lake to Echo Lake, maybe to Echo Col.
- for peak bagging, someone once told me Picture Peak (above Hungry Packer) was a easy one, but I'd have to do research on that one.

There is a trail all thru the basin. Some is cross country, with only a use trail to follow.”

There are ajoining lakes.. But somehow, this lake seems to fit humorous attitudes here on TT. For sure a few of us has to go to Drunken Sailor Lake. Let's see, I know I can at least carry a 6 pack.”

“Depending on what shakes out here in LA as far as ride space and timing, flying into Ontario and catching a ride north is about the same as landing in Sacramento and heading south.”
