That was great, Phil... wonder if there's a site I can check phases of the moon over varous periods?

Are dogs allowed in this area? Is there anyone coming on this trip who would shoot my little cattle dog if she came along?

Not shoot it, but I might eat it if I get hungry! ;)

From what I've seen...
The Inyo side is very dog friendly.
Sequoia/Kings National Parks are not.

This is all I could find
DOGS - Dogs are allowed on the National Forest lands as long as they are under control, which may mean on a leash. Dogs are not allowed in the National Parks.

So are we going to a National Park or Forest?? And, more important, is anyone going on this trip really offended by 4 footed friends? This friend is shy around strangers so she won't be in anyone's face, she weighs around 25 pounds and has short hair so she won't get all wet and then shake tons of dirty water on all around and she is very attached to me so she won't be wandering around getting into trouble.

Mike - Ticha would love to get to know your cats! They could go jogging together. She would give them a head start.

Oh yea...
Actually, one cat is pretty social with dogs. The other two aren't too social with anything.

We've taken two cats car camping a long time ago. As soon as we put a leash on them, they slink down! Really cool to see.

We do have a dog as well, but I wouldn't consider taking her along.

Inyo National Forest

And I don't mind four footed friends.

pepperDog - I would assume any dog you would bring would not be a problem keeping under control.

What's the snow level in the Sierras? The weather said that it would be down to 5,500 feet this week. At what point will they close the access road to Sabrina Basin?

I am pretty sure the snow will melt off, except at the higher elevations. By the time the trip comes up. But it will be a little chilly at night I bet. All the better sleeping weather.

Yosemite
Hey Hikin Mike,
Havn't meet you yet but I'll be in Yosemite this weekend. My wife and kids will be up north in Redding so I have the house to myself. I'm less than an hour from Yosemite and figured I'd wind up there for a couple days. I havn't decided on where I'll go yet though.
