Is it Friday yet?
Can't wait! This is going to be a double fun weekend for me. Major road trip in the hot rod and backpacking in one weekend!

Is it $5 for the permit? Gonna have to put it aside so I don't spend it on gas...500 mile round trip @ 13 MPG if I'm lucky!

Weather...
Just looked at the weather for Bishop. Looks like 30% chance of rain Friday and Saturday. Snow down to 7000'.

There is only one spot available for a Saturday entry... Sorry :(..
You could pull your own Saturday permits.. There are 3 extra permits for Friday. And that is if Pepperdog, Olive, and myself go in. If Pepperdog and Olive pull their own permits then there will be 5 open spots on Friday. If WindWalker gives one of his to Tekdude then there is 0 permits on Sat.

That weather report is scary. I'm not prepared for getting snowed on. Can someone please find a better weather report?

Pepperdog - Did you catch that some of us are going to Mel's Friday evening and then to the trailhead after breakfast on Saturday?

I was looking Phil! I'm ready to hike in it...I'm just not ready to drive in it! I was really looking forward to a relaxing drive in the "race car". Looks like the old family car...if the trip is still on.

Now let's see...where did I put those snowshoes!

Phil - maybe we will stay around Mommoth somewhere and hit Tom's for breakfast. What time do y'all think you will be there? I'm with you on the weather thing, part of my thinking about changing to hiking in on Saturday was that it sounded like Friday was going to have the diciest weather.

WLD can we still use the Friday permits go in on Saturday? We will obviously pay you for any permits you got that weren't used.

Just talked to Mel. Latest weather report is saying "dry".

She has been dealing with stuff from her father's estate, but has room for us to crash indoors in various places. It is getting cold up there.

Pepperdog - We are eating at Jack's in Bishop around 7 a.m., not Tom's Place.

Hi all...I just spoke with Cindy at the Bishop Ranger Station regarding permits. She said there is no problem for PepperDog and I to pick up permits for Sat entry. Walk-in permits are free, the $5 is for reservation. Sounds like they are not even close to filling the quota for both Fri & Sat. The Bishop ranger station is located on the east side of Main St, near Sizzler's, they are open 8-5.

Hi Olive Oyl!! Thanks for checking on that. Maybe we can find a cool place to camp at elevation and meet the gang at Jack's in Bishop.

Hodge - do you really think it will snow? I just love being cold and wet.

I'm looking forward to snow! Tekdude got the last opening on the Saturday permit so now it is full. For those who haven't paid, be sure to bring $5 for the permit. WLD paid $80 and so far has collected only $40. I will try to meet at Jacks for breakfast!

On the number of permits; did everyone catch that my friend is not coming? I'm only useing one of the two I ordered and paid for. Does this change the count?

Yes, Navi, one of the later add-ons will pay you for that one since you already paid WLD. We'll work it out.

Can we have camp fires in there? If ever there was a need for one that would be it.

Snow, not so worried about the money, just to use the permit if someone else wants to come.

Phil, no fires on the eastern side. There might be a few exceptions, but that seems to be the rule.

My backpack is packed. I'll put everything in the truck tomorrow night and leave about 4:30 am on Saturday morning. I'm not bringing snowshoes, but I am bringing extra toe warmers.

I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones.

I was going to bring my pack to weigh on our postal scales at work, but I really don't want to know! I'm "working" til noon. Should depart Atwater by 2 pm and be at Mel's by 8pm. Maybe longer if I stop to take pictures etc.

Back to work...

I'm about to leave my house, do a couple of things around town, head to Sacramento to pick up Olive Oyl and hit the road. Hope to be in Bishop by 4pm. See people at breakfast Sat morning if not at camp tonight.

Looks like Nav & I will be leaving from my house around 2 PM. Headed for Mel's with one stop in Bishop.

I'm at 40 lbs. with food and water. Extra clothes and cold weather stuff did it. I'm still lighter than I used to be.
