Chesapeake LT kayak kit
Has anyone bought one of these kits or knows anyone that has? It is called Chesapeake LT kayak. I was wondering on how hard it is to put together and how much time it would take.

How Much Is A Kit?
There's one way to find out!

Sounds like a cool project.

here's a start
Here's a good start for kayak building, and has some plans for free, but not for those who aren't familiar with basic tools and woodcraft.

Dont Buy ANY Tools, Ill share
It takes around 40-60 hrs. on a 18 ft. I built the Chesapeake LT 18ft.

Kind of get s expensive if you dont have ALL the right tools. They are a must when yourbuilding this boat.

If you want the directions on the steps you'll take I can post them. Just remember LOTs of rubber gloves!!!!

It only took me two weeks building mine.

Hey, Prowler. I would like to see a list of the tools you used. I'll start buying what I need now so I don't have to fork out a big chunk of change all at once.

Prowler I ws going to get the 16 footer. From What I got from the instructions that I will need a butt load of clamps. What other tools will be required. I have alot of tools but most of them are for plumbing.

I'm gonna build mine from scratch
No plans, no help. Just me and my modest collection of hand tools. And my school shop table saw. Compound miter saw, too, I reckon. Oh yeah - 18" surface planer, too.

I've built a model with cardboard and paper. Looks coolio! The model has a solid surface, tho - no seats, etc. The realio will be a tandem with a custom convertable cockpit for Belle. It will have a removable seat...

I suppose I'll build the hull using stitch and whatchacallit, then add the cockpit and deck. Storage will be below the cockpits, as well as the fore and aft hulls.

I'm considering using cypress... or cedar. I'll look deeper into that subject...

I hope this boatwright gets his boat right. heh!
