“I'd love to be with Artex et alia, although the itinerary intimidates me, but I have local, social commitments. The Dumas bros. are holding their regular Labour Day blow-out. I hunt with Pete and climb with Paul and we are roasting a giant pig on the big-ass barbeque.

We started school Monday (free buffet breakfast at the local golf club; lunch at the brasserie; sort-of meetings and then a social after work) so we'll have to have a social after work on Friday which will probably end up at my village pub (can you say snake and pygmy pie and Newcastle Nut Brown Ale?). Then I'll help Pete and Paul start the cooking (it takes 24 hours).

Saturday morning I'll be making salads and roasting tatties and then going to the blast at Pete's new farm.

Sunday recuperation at Paul's to go over knots, ropework and avy beacons because Paul's off to do Mt. Rainier. Then further planning (beery discusion) for our far North caribou hunting jaunt at Christmas.

Monday I'm doing Street and Nye in the Dacks with another buddy.

Can you say 'joie de vivre'? Can you say 'Living in the country in southwestern Québec'? Someone's gotta do it, I guess.”

“Gremlin. What?”

“Car camping with the family in Sequoia for three days. I think Josh and I will get up early and bag Alta Peak or head up the Pear Lake Trail or something like that on at least one of the days :)”

“I could possibly have four days off in a roll. BUT! I have to stay local. Hmmmmm, I have this wedding to attend too.

One quick question: I am sure this is NOT the place to ask. LOL

The groom has requested I somehow smuggle in some special achohol. After dropping 10k on this event I thought I would go cheap and make a special punch with a few bottle of Bacardi 151. Stash it in a secret location. Inform the groom and his Marine buddies and let them have at it. Any other suggestions.”
