Porters Creek

“We will be hiking Porters Creek manway up to the AT on Saturday, September 7. I have already contacted the backcountry reservations office and got us set up for Friday at CS31, Saturday at LeConte Shelter, and Sunday at CS 31. We will be meeting Friday afternoon/evening at CS 31. To get there, take US 321 5.9 miles east of Gatlinburg and turn onto the Greenbrier road at the park entrance sign. Pass the ranger station and two picnic areas. At mile 4.1, park on a traffic loop and look for the gate and the trail sign. It is 3.7 miles from that point to Campsite #31. I will have my cell phone on (731.694.7807) if you need to meet me in Knoxville early Friday morning. My plans are to arrive early enough to promote Titanium Chef 2002 with my friends over at Blue Ridge Mountain Sports. Hope to see all of you there. :)”

“I am such a #&%!$ for not making that trip, I had been out on the road working late hours on a response action and had no way to turn around and go back out. I'm glad everyone made it back out vertical, told ya the manway was rough. Have a good one.
