America's Beautiful are getting FAT!!!View Messages“Thanks Rich for the info. I wish I had seen the show also. I was so impressed a couple of weeks ago when I saw all my Florida relatives at a reunion, in their 60's, 70's and 80's just as energetic and happy as could be. My grandmother is 94 and doing poorly now, but was strong as could be until just a few years ago. She is the family matriarch now and grew up working on the family farm near Ocala. Tells me that fresh vegetables and exercise is definitely a good basis for living long. But to do what Lalane did requires a lifestyle change; make regular exercise a more important priority in your life than something else that you do everyday (TV, reading the newspaper, cooking, sleeping). For a lot of people with full, chaotic lives, that is a really hard thing to do. Absolutely worthwhile, but requires a great deal of organization and discipline.” 6:42:39 AM 9/19/02 “Yep, thats exactly what Jack said, lifestyle change. He gets up at 5 in the morning and works out for 2 hours a day. Not many people will have discipline to do that or even have the time to workout that much. On the other hand, I would think most people could squeeze in 30 minutes a day a few times per week and still get some benefit.” 7:03:05 AM 9/19/02 “Priorities, thats what its all about.” 5:08:07 PM 9/19/02 “Looking through this thread I was just thinking about a couple of people I know. Both always circle around the neighborhood looking for "convenient" parking places, wait for elevators that take a long time to come and complain they never find time to work out. It just blows me away to see how many people don't have time to exercise, but always have time to avoid physical effort.” 8:22:18 PM 9/19/02 “Very good point, pedxing.” 8:47:29 PM 9/19/02 “So I just got back from jogging...I'd much rather jog than write a spanish essay, but I'm running out of time and TT isn't helping.” 9:28:41 PM 9/19/02 “he'll be dead soon.” 9:47:46 PM 9/19/02 “There was a small story in the paper today about the frudulent claims of the so-called diet drugs and another about the American Heart Association Heart Walk that Subway sandwich shops is sponsoring. But the BIG news here is when the new Krispie Kreme donut shop will open. Front page stories, the mayor at the ground breaking, traffic backed up with people trying to get the free samples. We already have about 6 Dunkin Donuts and at least 5 independent donut shops and it only takes 15 minutes to drive from one end of town to the other.” 10:21:57 PM 9/19/02 “Jack says the best thing about a donut is the hole!” 5:52:00 AM 9/20/02 “Hey pepsi, you'll never see a new gym get that much attention! It's sad.” 5:53:41 AM 9/20/02 “There is so much info out there now about food and supplements that are good for you. Foods that have chemicals that prevent cancer, stroke, hypertension. It's great to live in the information age! But one must care about long term not just immediate gratification!” 6:41:51 AM 9/20/02 8:45:17 PM 9/22/02 “Excellent reading, Rich! The guy is the Bionic Man without the need for batteries.” 7:22:07 AM 9/23/02 “I'm really impressed by Jack and to see the energy he has when he was on Dateline that night was great. I kept thinking wouldn't it be cool to go on a hike with him or a bike ride and hear his whole story.” 7:25:53 AM 9/23/02 “What can you say? The guy's incredible.” 7:47:54 AM 9/23/02
