Windshirts

“I was planning on getting a Marmot Driclime Windshirt. I've heard good things about them. Does anyone here use them and what do you think about them?”

“I use one and love it! It not only will keep the wind out (and some rain) but it can be used as an insulating layer. The windshirt takes up less space in my pack than my old fleece jackets used to.

The DriClime fullzip pants are really uncomfortable though because the zippers dig into your hips.”

Gear Slut, What temp range do you wear yours at? I was also thinking about using it as a pillow in my stuff sack. What do you think?”

“Temperature range? That's a tough one. I just put mine on anytime I would normally consider wearing a mid weight fleece ~200wt. If you're more concerned about the wind than the temp, I would consider the Marmot Vindi Windshirt. I wear my DriClime all year. Anything that I'm not wearing becomes stuffing for my pillow at night.”

“The quality is good but I suspect you could do better with another brand for less than that price. That's a lot of money for a product that doesn't even have an inner lining.”

“I would probably also agree with rosey with the Marmot DriClime. That is what I will be getting shortly. When it comes to other clothing such as their goretex, they are the best in technology, they weld their seams and use some other tech, Marmot also makes some cool clothing (DriClime Windshirt and Precip Rain Gear), but Arc'Teryx blows them away in the other stuff.”

“I bought a Driclime last month - I love it. I brought a second fleece top for nights my last trip out and I never even used it. The Driclime worked for when it got chilly during the day and kept me nice and warm at night. Also, it breaths great.”

“I bought a windstop shirt from cabelas years ago. Olive drab fleece outer w/windstop fabric on the inside. I love it. It goes from the trail to the party like nothing else. The only thing I regret is that I should have got a extra size larger so I could wear a few more layers under it. It looks like this but w/button chest pockets

“I have the featherlite smock/pullover. Of the 100 jackets I own it's my absolute favorite. That's saying a lot... because I've owned a LOT of very nice jackets/pullovers. Very breathable... feels nice against the skin... not too clammy. Blocks out the wind. Weight next to nothing. Packs down next to nothing. I highly recommend them.
