NG, two hands on the wheel and no drinking and driving. Have a great time!

K-man, Minot really isn't all that bad. You could be in Cut Bank.

Damn Geezr, you said it w/ that one. I'm sure that Minot is thousands of times better than Cut Bank.

Smiley, got the e-mail. It isn't the same book. Bumma too! You really paid for that book didn't you girl. See what I mean? The college bookstore, otherwise known as a criminal group of robbers.

I don't know. It pisses me off. I try not flip out everytime I go in the bookstore. I went in the other day and found out that they were going to be open on Sun. They didn't have the books I need in and I need to get them before Tues. I asked the girl behind the counter what the hrs. were going to be. She actually f#$%in' rolled her eyes at me and said she didn't know. I asked her to find out for me PAAAlease. She turns around, looks at this other kid behind the counter, says nothing, turns back around, and says to me, "We don't know, k." I almost jumped over the counter and beat the dog piss out of her snotty little work-study face. The only thing that stopped me was that Newergirl was about to destroy the highlighter shelf.

LOL! The b*stards at the F.A. office still don't have my stuff figured out. They made me do it on-line, but first I had to wait for them to update the on-line stuff with the paperwork stuff I had to do in-office, God forbid I get to do the rest of it while I'm standing there. And today, I try to finish it on line, and there's an error in the program, and I can't. Go figure. Tuition is due today, and the university hasn't even sent out bills yet. Apparently with Financial Aid, "you don't have to worry". Yeah, right.

The book for my other class isn't in yet. Hopefully I can get it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Oh, and I don't have an ID card yet either. That place closes at 5Pm, and the equipment wasn't working the other day, and the line was about a million people long. It costs $3 to park in a lot w/o an ID card. Gonna get expensive real quick!

Smiley, we could go on and on together, girlfriend. You should hear me. Seriously, try not to sweat the F.A. just yet. They usually figured out what the -f- they're doing about 3 wks. after classes start. If not, definitely flip out on them. I have many times. After you get back into the swing of college bullcrap red tape again, it will be fine. After taking 3 yrs. off, coming back was horrible. But several semesters later, I have them figured . . . and I'm planning their demise.

Bumma!
Kodiakman, I didn't end up staying for the receptionto. It was an AM, Catholic wedding, so it kinda' took forever. By the time the ceremony was over I had to hit the rd. in order to make it to a conference in Billings. However, I will not fail in my quest to find info. for you on Minot. I will keep trying. One of the guys is in town until tomorrow. I'll try to track him down today. When do you need the info. by?

that would be cool. I'm not going to leave till next Saturday and then I figure that it will take me four days to get to Montana. Then I have a another 2 days or so to MN. I really don't think that I will have the internet on the way so who knows. Even if you could find out be the end of the month. I would owe you huge.

newgirl- How's school? Got any "wild and crazy" eastern European professors this year?

Aero, school's going pretty well. I have a really cool Communications class on Mon. nights. My other class is Biology. One of my last gen. ed. classes. Unfortunately, I got the prof. w/ a reputation. (A reputation I had no idea about.) He's supposedly a hard-ass, hard-to-pass type, and I have to say, so far in class he's living up to that. I'm just going to stick it out though and hope that he doesn't ruin my GPA. Thank god, I don't have any skeery Eastern Europeans to deal w/. How's the team?

Newgirl-
I have a whole bunch of women who trained all summer and got through our camp up at Cooke City in good shape.

The guys, on the other hand, are pretty pathetic. Three didn't come out because it was too "tough" and the remaining ones are really lazy! I'm not impressed with the 18-22 year old males these days. I told them we were running 70 miles a week and doing a long run every Sunday and I'm met with blank stares. The Dept. Chair for HPE (who used to run for BYU) and a student assistant (who is 42) and I are running these poor young guys into the ground, and we're doing about the minimum for college level distance runners. I don't know what to make of it.

Hey newgirl!

I had to drop one astronomy class, and pick up another one. Every exam in the class coincided with the one night a month I have to work. Go figure! I had to drop my other class, though, to get my schedule to work out. Lost my financial aid for the term, and now I'm behind in my "plan" for graduation. :(

Good luck with that biology professor - its hard not knowing which professors are the good ones, which are the bad ones.

Gee, aero, I thought those Montana boys were tough. That does sound pathetic. Just tell 'em you're going to put the women in the men's race in place of them; that oughtta get 'em going. Either that, or you could solicit motivational suggestions in a separate TT thread. Or not....

Martyb- the women are way tougher and more willing to get in shape than the guys! It's been a trend I've noticed in the last few years. Too much frisbee golf and video games, I guess.

9/12/02

Aero, you are so funny about the frisbee golf. A friend of mine met one of the girls on the team the other night. She was saying that you had a big scholarship 'cause you have open spots. It's too bad that the boys are a bunch of pusses.

Smiley . . . . Major Bummer!!!! I finally have everything straightened out, thankfully. I hope everything starts going more smoothly. Why did you lose your aid for the term? I don't get that?!
newgirl
11:32:50 AM

Yeah, I've got some scholarship money left! Maybe I could recruit Ice Tea! He likes to run! Plus he'd get to go to our camp up in the mountains for 4 days!

Hey, I didn't use any of my eligibility back in the 80's. Sure I'm a little old, but (at least until this past year) I'm faster than I was then, and I'm willing to do the workouts....
martyb

Isn't Ice Tea still a little young? Maybe you could encourage him to drop out of h.s., get his G.E.D and join the team on scholarship dough.
newgirl

9/12/02

I haven't ever used any sports eligibility in my life. I suppose I could still play on a high school team, if'n I went back to high school.

And yes, I graduated from high school and all that. But tell it to the recurring nightmare I have where I'm 39 years old and I have to repeat my senior year of high school for some reason. Ugh......

Small town. I went to school w/ the same awful bastards from K to 12. I didn't have any best friends, I wanted to get away from all of them.

Of course, today I love most of them and am happy to see them when I do.
newgirl
11:56:00 AM
9/12/02

Since I had to drop a class, I didn't have full time status, so I lost my aid. All because one professor wouldn't even discuss the possibility of letting me take the exams at another time. He literally wouln't even discuss it!
smiley girl
11:57:26 AM
9/12/02

I dunno if this happens in small towns, and it's never happened to me, but my wife will run into people who, in high school, wouldn't give her the time of day, and now they talk to her like she's their long-lost best friend. Freaky!
bitpusher
11:58:50 AM
9/12/02

Smiley, can't they just give you aid for going part-time? That is how I do it? Or are you taking less credits than part-time now?

Bit, yes, that totally happens in SmallTownVille. I sometimes think about telling those people to -f- off, but instead I just smile an icky sweet smile and try to be nice. It is bizarro though.
newgirl

NG - I have to be taking 6 credits for aid, I've only got 5 now.

I talked to the associate dean in the department, told him my problem, and basically he said tough luck. I asked Buddha Bear to negotiate for me, but he hasn't responded. :)

Smiley, that is really tough. Big bummer. I hope it works out. Next semester will get better. You have to figure out their little games.
newgirl

9/12/02

Yes, BB, I'll hold the little dorky guy down, and you punch him. I still get really angry every time I think about it. But, Tarabull explained that this stuff happens all the time, and to get used to it.

It probably was a blessing in disguise, I think 9 credits my first term back after 6 years, while working full time, may have been a bit aggressive. Plus, I may be able to get credit for the math class I dropped since I had to take a similar class for my bachelors. Still have to call on that one.

Now I have to pay tuition, and I won't be able to afford to do that term after term. I hope I have better luck next semester!

Tarabull is right Smiley. It does happen alot. Like I said, once you get used to handling their little games again, it will work out.

Only a few more credits and . . . .
I will have my degree in Marine Biology.
Then, I might have to actually go out and get a REAL job !!!!

I think I shoulda picked geology . .. Then, I coulda packed my way around the U.S. lookin at ROCKS !!

But, my true love is always gonna be paleontology, though . .. .

Smiley girl

If you do that, make sure you pick one that doesn't have a high "lab fee" for participation. Not sure what your aid structure is, or how much your classes cost, but depending on how much the fees are for the class, and whether or not your financial aid picks up fees, it could be a lot.

Maybe there's a yoga class or something, a couple of hours on a Saturday.

Bit, that is a very, very good idea! Beat them at their own game Smiley. Score one for the team!

Gotcha' Bit. As you may have noticed, I'm rather hostile about the university system (fin. aid included). I love it when people find the loop holes.
