I just got into this and it is fun. But my first attempt to find didn't work out. I know I was in the right place but will have to go back.

I was thinking of placing some in my area. So far close to me are only 3 which of course I haven't found yet......
but tommorrow is another day.

What Is This Thing Called Geocaching???
My sister-in-law told me about a "Benchmark" portion of geocaching where you search out USGS benchmarks rather than a traditional cache. I really like that idea as you don't leave/abandon anything, and frankly, I don't really take anything to place in a cache and never take any item either.

btw - There are many around here that are going waaaaaaay overboard with placing caches. I think the site should "suggest" a maximum of, let's say 3, caches per person.

I was looking on the site to find out more about "locationless" caches. For example, I somehow ran across a cache that asks people to take photos of letters created on hillsides... like an "R" on the hillside above the town of Rushford, let's say (yes, that is the one I might try to get... hehe)
And I saw one on murals, too. Those are ones you can get anywhere, as long as you know where something is that's requested... and you can get a photo of the letter (or mural, etc.) and your GPS in the shot also. I am kind of fired up about this!

Locationless caches are a good way to pad your numbers. I logged one where you had find an existing or closed drive-in. They just don't do it for me. At least virtuals require you to go to a specific location and answer some questions about the site.
