the us has raised its security level to condition orange signaling a high risk of attack. while targets believed to be overseas they are concerned it might be a feint for operations in the us.

I would imagine that the date alone would warrant an increased security level.

That old familiar dodge.

Here's a refresher on those color-codes.

Why even bother with the colors, though? Shouldn't it be something like "Condition normal", "Condition watch your back", "Condition start shooting things" and "Condition get religion"? 'Cos if things start going down, man, I'd hate to be color blind.

I think Condition Orange is something like Clockwork Orange.

This rating system is just a means of spreading gov't propaganda. Got to have an alert now and again to remind everyone that al qaeda is still enough of a threat to justify taking away our civil rights and going to war to secure energy resources.

I don't know, mutt. Sure, money is always behind every major decision, but I think the alert thing is needed- The US is going to be mourning tomorrow, which means the people who hate the US are going to be celebrating- Perhaps some of them will think another attack would be a great way to celebrate.

I'm sure you're right, Nasty. But IMO if this bogus alert system was truly developed with the public's best interest at heart, then it reminds me of the worst kind of CQI or TQM initiative - a useless cheesey, waste-of-time, bull#&%!$ fiction that achieves nothing more than to provide a convenient method for smarmy gov't bureaucrats to document that they are proactive, caring nurturers. BLAH.

There's definitely truth in that, Mutt. I mean, it's nice that the gov is letting us know there's a threat of some sort, but they really haven't gotten the message out about what the hell we should DO when these conditions change colors- Hearing that we're on Orange alert or whatever did nothing at all to my day, and I didn't notice any heightened presence of authority.

OK, we're under Code Orange again! What's everybody doing to prepare?
I'm stocking up on beer, of course!
Also, our freezer really needs to be cleaned out; I think there's enough food in there for a month.
I'm out of plastic sheeting; I used the last of it for a skating rink in the backyard.

Yep, I think I'm ready.

Here's a good one!
MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- A man was arrested Monday at Miami International Airport because he was carrying a razor blade and a hacksaw blade in his shoe, police said.

David McIntyre, who was traveling with his wife and children, told authorities he forgot the blades were in his shoe, said police Detective Joey Giordano.

Police didn't know why he had the blades in his shoe.

I might go buy a new PS2 game and some gas for the generator, in case the power goes out.
I have plenty of AMMO since 9/11.
All I have in frig is PROPEL, Budweiser, and pepsi!
I have enuf Enertia food for a month! Maybe I will go buy some more from Binks, seeing it's
christmas and all :-)

HEY!!
Here is and Idea!
Just in case the big one does hit we need to have a TT ground zero!
We could have TT sub station meeting places, for the NE SE NW & SW each would have a substation password. Then when everyone shows up at the substations we could head to the Main metting area! Say some where in middle America. This way if all us TTer's are the only survivors we could start a New America with all TT ideals...
