I was looking through the Campmor catalog and noticed that they have quite a few products that have there name on it. I realize that some or all of there products are made by other companies and that the Campmor label gets put on it.
Basically what do think about the Campmor products vs the big name companies.

Had a Campmor rainsuit that lasted a little over a year. Too short of life as far as I was concerned in spite of the modest cost.

I like my Campmor 0F down sleeping bag. That's the only Campmor product I've bought so far.

I have a Campmor fleece pullover that I got for around $25. It is thick and warm and has held up beautifully for several years.

I bought Campmor fleece pants and jackets for myself and the boyfriend--twice--so that makes 8 garments the elastic came off on the cuffs. Just careless sewing.

I have a Campmor 200 polartech fleece jacket that's held up well. I'd buy another one.

Their fleece jackets and vests are OK and cheap.

It works for me with a gang to cover.

My mid weight pullover fleece jacket is OK but my Marmot is a whole lot better. I tried the fleece pants on at the store and the drawstring broke when I went to tie it. It may have been an isolated defect, but it turned me off right there.

I have a Campmor raincoat and pants that were cheap, work perfectly, and lasted for 7+ years of frequent use. I have their pack covers, a down coat, several kids packs, etc. It's not top of the line, but sufficient, and affordable.

I bought a $20 nylon anorack rainjacket/windbreaker for me and my girly. Weighs 6 ozs and I take it all the time, even when I bring my heavy shell.

I have a campmor...
coffee cup...it came with a lid, it has liquid measurements on the outside...it keeps my coffee hot and my water cold. I use it measure water for my rehydrating of foods...other than the fact that it works great...it sucks.

Any new thoughts on Campmor's branded line of clothing? I'm looking at their uninsulated shell bibs for winter hiking. I know its inexpensive, but I figure its a "get what you pay for" kind of thing.

Thanx

We recently got a Gander Mountain store near me and I was surprised at their line's quality and prices. I think the Cabelas brand stuff is pretty good too.

Despite Campmor's cheap catalogs their stuff looks good.

I actually met a guy who backpacks a lot and swears by their gear. He loves their down bags. I don't know though

Nothing wrong with less expensive gear.
Just know what it's designed for and use it for that purpose.

I've got a Campmor 0F down bag that I use as a 20F. If you're a warm sleeper they're okay.

The only Campmor item of clothing I have is a lightweight rain jacket that packs down to baseball size. It doesn't breathe one bit, but it's coated nylon, so that's to be expected. The zipper will blow out if you put to many layers on beneath it - it doesn't take much. I have only ever backpacked with it on one of my first trips.

If you can accept a shorter life of the item and are going places that you can bail if it fails, it will probably work ok.

Thanks, all.

Good point, hubcap. I don't have the same margin for error I had in central IL.

Bah, off to work.

I have the Campmor 0F mummy down bag also, spend the extra money and get better gear. No one has ever said "I'm glad I saved the money" when they're cold/wet on the trail.

I am currently wearing a Campmor fleece pullover that I purchased a couple years ago. It's seen many many washings and has held up just as good as any other fleece I've purchased.

I also have a Campmor sleeping bag that I purchased last year. Has treated me very well. Better than the piece of crap Kelty one I bought a couple years before it.

You can pick up some pretty good fleece at Kohls. My wife works there and she got me a bunch of these ¾ T-zip hoodies that are nice and thin fleece. She got them on special for like $5. They should be selling out of their Columbia stuff soon. You can get some crazy prices on it. I got some cool $25 W/B gloves for $7. Last year we bought a bunch of the $200-$250 Columbia coats with the zip in fleece jackets for $38.

My fleece pants are Campmor Brand, I think. They were around 20 bucks - an excellent value. I use them on all my winter trips and they work great!

Most of my stuff comes from Campmor or Walmart. My only disapointment is a 20 degrees mummy bag from Campmor. I get by OK, but I feel that it should be rated 40 degrees. I discovered that there does not seem to be any standard rating system!

I bought jackets with removal liners from Campmor for two daughters, when they left for college. The jackets kept both of them warm during their four winters in Baltimore and Grinnell, Iowa. Also, I bought other clothing for them from Campmor, which could be used for layering. Everything worked out good, including Campmor's return policy, when some items had to be exchanged for different sizes.

Just picked up a pair of cammpmor convertable pants. Made in Macou, wherever that is. The fabric isn't as heavy as north face pants but, they're well made. The stitching is good and the zippers work fine.

Nigal - is that w/ employee discount? I just bought a Columbia w/ fleece last month from there. Dang it.

I have a fleece i got there, also some convert pants (nylon) and some other assorted clothing (hat, a shirt, some merino wool long undies, etc). I look for their "hot deals" and buy when the stuff gets cheap. So far no complaints.
