“Stanley Cup makes visit to area


The Flyers played so well Monday night that the NHL is sending the Stanley Cup directly to Philadelphia.

OK, not quite.

But the most revered trophy in sports is coming for a weekend visit to area Sports Authority sporting goods stores beginning Friday.

For a voluntary donation, fans will be able to get their picture taken with the 111-year-old trophy. Proceeds will go to Hockey Fights Cancer, the league's official charity.

With any luck, the Cup will come back to Philly for a little trek down Broad Street sometime early next month. Until then, here are this weekend's chances to visit hockey's Holy Grail at these Sports Authority locations:

• Friday: Whitehall, Pa., Whitehall Square Shopping Center, 2180 MacArthur Rd. (4 p.m.-8 p.m.)

• Saturday: Wilmington, Del., 1100 Rocky Run Parkway (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

• Saturday: King of Prussia, Pa., 125 W. DeKalb Pike (4 p.m.-8 p.m.)

• Sunday: Langhorne, Pa., 2375 E. Lincoln Highway (11 a.m.-3 p.m.).”

Watched the whole Flames vs Sharks game though. The Flames were good, but the Sharks were better tonight....they deserved the win. I was hoping for a Flames victory...so at least one Canadian team makes it to the final.
