Flyers-Lightning are in overtime at 4-4 (it's on espn2 -- awesome game)

I guess they counted that 3rd goal on the buzzer in last night's game. That hadn't been decided yet when I posted last night.

I can't believe CBC wouldn't/couldn't boardcast the game on TV. Man, this is a CANADIAN game!!!!!!!

I'm jacked! Flyers win in OT 5-4. Back to Tampa Bay for game 7. Coin toss... 50/50, I like those odds!

That was the best playoff game I've seen since the old six-team league, when Montreal and Toronto had annual bouts of intense hockey. Wow! Big question after the game among the Philly media was why Tampon Bay sat back on its heels, but the fact was they didn't have much choice in the matter. Whenever the did break out, it was short-lived.

Neither team has any quit in them. Both are hungry. Damn fine series.

It was an old time hockey barn burner Tango. The refs backed off in the overtime period and let them play, and play they did. Not one penalty minute in the OT. It was one of those games where you just sat there with your mouth open and said "Oh - My - God!"

The Flyers really pressed it. They were awesome. I just hope they bring that same game on Saturday night. If both teams play that way, it should be a great game. On the other hand, they might have lost a lot of starch last night. We shall see.

It was indeed a great series. The last two games were classics. Absolutely the best hockey in decades. Wow!

One team had to win it, and it was Tampon Bay. Congrats, and good luck in the finals.

What the hell is it with Philly and Tampon Bay? Grrrrrr!

Canadian National Pride On The Line
What's up...how come this thread is all the way at the bottom?

By now...most of you probably know that the Flames outplayed the Lighting tonight.

Flames win first game (4 to 1) in the NHL Finals.

I'm sure the TB Lighting will play better coming Thursday. They had a really tough series against the Flyers. The player's legs just didn't have that kick in them.

Well, let's see -- we've got the team who can't win at home (Flames)vs. the team who can't win 2 in a row (Lightning). I'd have to say Flames in 5 or 7 (definitely not 6, as they would have to win at home for that...)

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: GO FLAMES GO!

I like your math. :o)

Vincent Lecalvalier and Martin St. Louis of the Lighting, both grew up (In Ste. Dorothee) near my work place...2 districts away.

I would like them to win the cup....but I would like the Flames to win the cup MORE.

Even Stevens...
TB kicked Flames' butt yesterday night. Same score as Flames win 2 nights ago...4 to 1 for TB.

I knew the Flames were in trouble right in the 1st period....4 powerplay chances...but they only had 4 shots on goal...one power play, they didn't even get a shot.

Next game on Sat. in Calgary. Can hardly wait.

I can’t believe everyone isn’t talking about this.
Thanks to a 2-1, overtime victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday, the
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have advanced to the Calder Cup Finals for the second time in the last four seasons. The Pens will now face the Western Conference Champion Milwaukee Admirals beginning this Tuesday evening.

Knuckle Head....
The Flames played short-handed, after Nieminen drew a five-minute major penalty, for ramming Lecavalier head-first into the boards in the final 4:13 of the third period.

They were losing 1 to 0 at that point....if he didn't have that penalty....they could've pulled their goalie in the last 1 and a half minute, and have 6 attackers....and might've tied the game. Go into overtime and might've won the game.

In my opinion, the Flames outplayed the Lighting....but the Lighting had the goal and a really hot goalie....and they won. Congrats. On to the next game on Thursday.

SIEVE!
We'll see. Milwaukee had the best goals per game in the regular season. Lotta firepower for a rookie goalie.

On rookie goalies, watch for 20 year-old Kari Lehtonen to move up from Chicago to start for the Thrashers next year. Dunno if you Eastern conference guys ever saw him. He had a couple 50(!) save games against the [Milwaukee] Admirals two rounds ago.

Off to the game!

Admirals up 2 - 0
An 8 - 4 romp and the Admirals head to Pennsylvania.

Six special teams goals, two short-handers. The Pens are gonna have to recover their composure; Having your coach ejected from the game does not bode well for the rest of the series...

Pens were down 3 games to 1 against Bridgeport and came back to win the series, so no reason to give up yet. Hopefully some home ice will help turn things around.

The Penguins mounted a minor battle on the scoresheet, scoring three times in the final 14 minutes, but the bigger fights came with the gloves off. Wilkes-Barre finished the contest with 102 minutes in penalties and without head coach Michel Therrien, who was tossed from the game in the raucous third period.

Therrien was nuts. After Milwaukee called a timeout, he stood up on the dasher and was screaming at the Admirals' bench. When the referee gestured him to the locker room, he slapped the ref's hand. I suspect a fine may be coming down the pike.

And in the bigs...where's the Bolts' game? They have 20 minutes to wake up.

Serious Cup Fever in Canada...
Oh man, that was a very entertaining and stressful NHL game. The bolts came back twice from behind to tie the Flames.

Very good chances for both teams in the overtime....the Flames won it at the 14 minute mark.

Next (final(?)) game in Calgary Saturday night.

Calgary fans are going nuts. Woohoo.

Lighting Just Won't Quit.....
Tampa Bay wins in 2nd overtime to force a 7th and final game.

It was a nail biter....both teams fought hard. Calgary had more shots on goal....but TB's goalie was excellent.

Calgary's powerplay in the 1st period sucked...had a 2 minute powerplay twice...back to back, and only had one shot on goal. Credit goes to TB's defense line.

Final game on Monday night....I can't wait.

I can't think of a lot of people who were excited to see the Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final (perhaps just Artex and myself), but this is the best series I've seen in years.

How sweep it is!

If there was any question who was at the head of the AHL class in 2003-04, the answer came with an exclamation point on Sunday afternoon, as Milwaukee rolled to a 7-2 victory over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and captured the Calder Cup 2004 championship in a clean four-game sweep of the Penguins.

A 50% power play conversion is a pretty good measure of success. Was more like 15.5% in the regular season.

I also go dormant after the Stanley Cup finals.

I fear the AHL will be the only game in town, come next fall...

I would have liked to see the second overtime play.. Our network chose to air a movie when the 1 overtime resulted in a tie. Dang! Had me surfing the net trying to pick it back up and my friend doesn't have cable or dish. Bummer! We had to wait until sunday to find out.

I was disappointed. The Flames had the Bolts by the throat....one more stab and it would've been all over. Now it's down to the final game in Tampa. Tampa will have the edge.

Mtnmom2, the 2nd overtime only lasted 33 seconds.
