For a consolation 2 of my fantasy players scored. Not very good consolation though. Good game. Congrats Geo.

I think the season series is now at 2-1 Flutters.

Phantom Soul, there's company for the Rankers at the top!

So my day ends 3-1. Virginia was my only team that lost.

The Waddles are a much improved team Tango, but Sid the Kid has got to stop his diving act. They will start calling that sooner or later. Either that or he could sign up for the Olympic diving team.

Tango, if you knew the league was watching you for diving, wouldn't you at very least try to make them look legitimate?

I wasn't talking about the play in Philly where he got the stick in his mouth. I was talking about the play in the Igloo where he clearly dove - the one where Forsberg took issue. No stick, no blood, just a swan dive. And he's not the only player who ever got teeth chipped or knocked out. It's an occupational hazard. That's been happening ever since the first bunch of people put on skates and ventured out onto a frozen pond and started pushing a rock around with sticks.

The zebras are going to be watching him. There is a penalty for diving, and one of these days they will start calling it on him. He's gotten away with it so far, but that will not continue forever.

He's a good player, and he will be a great player. But he has a lot to learn.

I discoveed a handy bit of information about our league that a few of you are not aware of. Unfortunately PhantomSoul and I got to talking on the AT one day and I mistakenly informed him of this. However, it appears as though the other three are unaware, and it could hurt them towards the end of the season. Play on my friends.
Oh and Pantscandy, what's up with you not playing a defenseman?
Ox

Defensemen are good for racking up assists and powerplay points, especially if you can get your hands on guys like Brian McCabe.

My defense is kinda weak right now, but when Brian Leetch gets back, look out -- that'll be a point-generating machine...

Injuries to "do-not-drop" players are kinda the story of my team right now...

Good idea PhantomSoul, and I see you have taken care of it, but Tango, I'll let you in on a part of the secret. The information can be found in our league, if you look for it. And unfortunately, according to this information, you have the most to work to do.

I need Hejduk in Colorado to have an awesome game tonight (which is pretty much about equivalent to asking for money to fall out of the sky), but hey, a guy can hope, can't he?

Oh yeah, and as an addendum to what Ox is saying, it is a default setting, so it's never really been discussed...

Damn....Wings game was stopped and postponed because Jiri Fisher (D) was rushed to the hospital after having a seizure/heart attack on the bench during the game.

I'll tell everyone the "EDGE".

Ready?

You can only play positions a certain amount of games during the season! Go over that number and that position can not rack up any stats.

Woohoo!

Nice breakaway by Sid the Kid. I have a nasty hunch we'll be seeing that a lot.

Jiri is doing fine in the hospital, tests havn't shown what the problem was. Wings had a press conference this afternoon about it. They called it "convulsions" not a seizure. In 2002 he was diagnosed with a heart condition, but they're not sure if its related to this or not.

Gotta love living in Hockey Town. This story has been the leading item on all newscasts since it happened.

Rangers continue to ride the Jagr Renaissance as he picks up 2 goals and an assist (including the game winner) to beat the Sabers in a shootout. This should help my conversely struggling fantasy team a bit...

True Rangers actually have 4 more games played than the Flyers, but those 4 games have to actually be won to mean anything.

I say, it's better to have the 4 extra games now than in, say March, when half the conference is racing to try and catch a playoff spot.

Rangers in the playoffs? I think that for the first time since 1997, it's more likely than not...
PhantomSoul

The Flyers do not need to win all four games in hand. They only need to win two and take one of the losses to overtime to overtake the Rankers.

The Flyers went through a string of wins, and now they are having their problems. There's still a long way to go in this season. They'll get back on track soon enough. Those footsteps you hear will be from guys wearing black and orange.

I finally caught a game. My in-laws were in town and watched the kids while I went to a friend's house to catch a game. Maybe it's just me but hockey just doesn't feel the same. :(

The exhausted stRangers go on to defeat the Thrashers 5-3 and climb to the top of the Eastern Conference as Jagr tallies yet another goal that goes on to become the game winner -- tallying some more badly needed stats for my fantasy team.

They've had a rather busy schedule and have the most games played out of any team in the NHL, but hey, at least they've got the points to show for it. Hockey hasn't been this great in New York since the mid-90's.

LET'S GO RANGERS...
CLAP, CLAP, CLAP-CLAP-CLAP

Wow, so even Devils/Islanders commentator Stan Fischler, who despises the Rangers, has just suggested that if the Rangers keep playing the way they did the last 25 games, they would definitely be a cup contender in the playoffs.

How's that for zeroes to heroes in a lockout season? I guess that in the absence of guys like Stevens and Niedermeyer, someone's gotta keep those Flyers in check, eh?

Mr. Phantom, call your doctor, you're hallucinating again. A Stanley Cup in New York? Sounds hilarious to me. First off, they have played the most games, and the Flyers have played somewhere among the least. Yet only four points seperates the two teams. Four out of a possible ten. Keep that in mind sir!
