An elbow to the head. Actually it was between the elbow and shoulder. It probably wouldn’t have been called if he didn’t follow through with it.

Anybody want Nash? He's just sitting on my bench. Let me know who you'll give up in exchange.

Maybe I should post this on the fantasy thread.

The Waddles sure do make a fight of it. If it wasn't for Fleury though, the score would have been 10-2.

John Leclair spent the second intermission watching his son play in a PeeWee exhibition, then greeted the team when they came off the ice.

I know they had to cut him, but it does not seem right to see John playing in another jersey. Also sad that they dealt Jon Sim to Florida for a sixth round pick in 2007. I thought he showed promise. Too many centers though.

It's a sad day in Tango's house
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Penguins star and owner Mario Lemieux, one of hockey's greatest players, is retiring for the second time, a team official said Tuesday.

Lemieux, a Hall of Famer who won Stanley Cups and scoring titles and then battled through cancer and heart problems in a comeback, will announce his decision at a news conference later Tuesday.

Mario Lemieux said Tuesday he would likely have surgery to treat his heart condition because he hadn't tolerated well the drugs he's taking to slow down his heart rate.
"I don't feel great every day when I get up," Lemieux told reporters at a news conference announcing his retirement. "I don't feel 100 percent."

Lemieux said the medicine is causing him fatigue, a common side-effect from heart medications.

Lemieux said he's considering a procedure known as ablation and could have it done within a month or two.

The procedure is reserved for young, otherwise healthy patients, according to Dr. David Schwartzman, director of the atrial arrhythmia center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Patients are typically required to take blood thinning medication a month before the surgery and two months after the procedure.

Lemieux said taking the blood thinners would prevent him from playing hockey.

I thought it was the first one I get those 2 mixed up!

I don't like the fights, especially when the players drop the gloves and then dance around for a few minutes. I can understand if it is instantaneous.

But I LOVE good hits!!!

Good to see the Devils didn't lose their momentum with the end of their 9 game winning streak. Of all the teams to lose too, why did it have to be the evil Rangers?

One of Tango's loves is a goon?
Buffalo Sabres center Tim Connolly, whose left knee was injured after a hit by Rangers defenseman Darius Kasparaitis, will miss at least six weeks.
Sabres coach Lindy Ruff called the hit in Tuesday's game a cheap shot on Connolly, who was tied for the team lead with 38 points.
"I thought it was cheap. I thought he went low at the knees," Ruff said yesterday.
In the second period of the Sabres' 2-1 win, Connolly was skating with the puck and was struck directly on the knee by hip check along the boards by Kasparaitis, who was not penalized.

Broadway is Back!
With the Senators run out of town and the Flyers finally in the rear view mirror (which took a trip to Broad St, mind you), things are once again looking up in New York.

Gotta keep an eye out on New Jersey though; they've been making a lot of ruckus since picking up Elias...

Enjoy it while you can.

Mike Richards got the hat trick last night, two of the goals short-handed. The last was an empty netter while the Flyers were down two players on the ice.

Actually, if you ask me, all 3 teams are going to the playoffs (Philly, New York Rangers, and New Jersey) -- it's just going to be a matter of rank and who gets home advantages and the better first-round match-ups.

It also depends on how much long this team consists of the walking wounded. The Olympic break will be welcome for the most part, except we have quite a few guys playing for their countries. But at least guys on the DL will have a chance to heal (I hope).

We've got Forsberg and Nedved both out. Man, Forsberg must be made of glass!

Well, everyone's got their weaknesses:

The Flyers seem to be very injury-prone

The Rangers, being Jagr and a bunch of no-name kids, have a severe lack of experience

And the Devils -- well let's just face it -- they're not nearly as powerful without Scott Stevens.

The Flutters play tonight and tomorrow night before the Olympic break. Tonight the Craps and tomorrow night at the Ottowa Sins. Forsberg won't be able to play, but he's saying he will play for Sweden in the Olympics. Ed Snider is less than happy over that.
