“Gonchar, HE TOTALLY SUCKS (but actually got better). I don't know what the prob is besides our defense SUCKS. Recchi is gone. Hope we get Malkin over from Russia and we'll have a good draft pick. I'm looking for next year.

I take comfort in how close most of those losses were. Like last night, you guys were up 3 zip and we came back.

“I'm hoping the Flyers win Saturday's game and loose Sunday's. There's a slim possibility that the Devil's can end up on top for the Atlantic Division. The Devil’s would have to win their last two games, the Rangers would have to lose their last two and the Flyers would have to lose two of their last 3. Things get interesting this time of year.”

“Indeed they do. The Flutters have had every opportunity to take over this thing, and they just keep blowing those opportunities. They play great one night and don't seem to be able to stand up on their skates the next game. Granted we've had injuries to key players all season, but everybody else needs to rise to the occasion.

In my opinion, the Rankers are not that great. This should not have been a contest. And by now, the Flutters should have it in their heads that the Debtils are a tough team, but one that can be beaten if the Flutters would just play 60 minutes.

Being a Philadelphia sports fan is not an easy lot. They wonder why we boo? Hell, at least we pay the admission for the right to boo. In other cities, fans just stop showing up. Philly fans are starting to get that idea down too. Why pay for mediocrity?

And don't even talk to me about Peter Forsberg's groin. Damn thing must be made of tissue paper!”

“You know, the traditional rivalries aside, it does come down to a fantastic finish. Beats the hell out of a first place team 10 points ahead, unless it could be your team 10 points ahead. I want to see the Flutters win, but with that array of possibilities, it's going to come down to a hell of a hockey night on Tuesday.

“The Jersey Dildoes. They play in the rink at the Meadowlands. I forget what it's called now. The rink has had more names than the Walkoverya Center (formerly the FU Center) in Philly.”

“Sidney Crosby's rookie season keeps getting even more special.

Crosby became the youngest player in NHL history to score 100 points in a season, setting up three goals Monday night in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 6-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

Crosby's three-point night gave him 62 assists, to go with 38 goals, and tied Mario Lemieux (1984-85) for the team rookie scoring record of 100 points. Crosby also joined Hall of Fame forward Dale Hawerchuk of the Winnipeg Jets (103 points, 1981-82) as the only 18-year-olds to score 100 points in an NHL season.

"You're only a rookie once, and this is the only opportunity you have to achieve something like that," Crosby said after the Penguins' home finale. "It was nice to be able to do that here -- I scored my first goal here, and this was a very similar feeling to that."

Hawerchuk was three-plus months older than Crosby when he did it, and only a few days short of 19. Crosby's season might be more comparable to Wayne Gretzky's first when, in the year in which The Great One turned 18, he scored 104 points for the WHA's Edmonton Oilers in 1978-79. The Oilers moved into the NHL a season later.

"It's a great accomplishment, and I'm definitely proud of it," Crosby said. "By no means, coming into the season, did I think about getting 100 points. But as it became near, it was something I thought would be a nice feat, and I tried to have the best finish to the season -- and have no regrets."

Crosby also became the seventh NHL rookie to reach the 100-point mark, joining Teemu Selanne, Hawerchuk, Lemieux, Joe Juneau, Peter Stastny and Washington's Alexander Ovechkin, who reached the mark last week.

“The Flutters scored two (count 'em) empty net goals with Desjardins in the bin (6-4 power play) to seal their win. So we get the Sobers in the first round. I can only hope the Rankers beat up on the Dildoes in their series.

The Snooters and Hurrycanes seem to me to be the teams to beat in the East. I saw Brian McGratton of the Snooters last year against the Phantoms, and again against the Flutters this season. He's a tall, lanky guy who fancies himself an enforcer, but clown might be more appropriate. He took on Josh Gratton last season and lost the fight and drew the penalty. He got into it with another Phantom later in the game with the same exact result. A fan yelled, "Hey Brian, what are you doing back in the box? That's twice you lost the fight and got the penalty!" Against Donald Brashear this year, the same exact thing happened. I guess the guy has more nads than brains. "Put 'em up; put 'em up! I'll fight ya with one hand behind my back. I'll fight ya with both hands behind my back. Owww, now why'd you have to go and do that?"

Tango, in that last game with the Flutters, Sid was arguing with the officials that the puck went into the crowd off a Flutters player when the replay clearly showed it was off his stick and no Flutter was anywhere near it after he touched it. Rookies in most sports are well advised to keep their pie holes shut. Most officials love to run rookies who squawk. The Waddles should begin a new feature: whine of the game. I think Sidney's problem comes from the fact he didn't play minor league hockey, so he doesn't know the subteties of the game. I don't see how they put a C on a kid that young and that raw. He's a damn good hockey player, but I don't see leadership stamped on that kid. But hey, it's the Waddles' decision, eh?”

“I'm hoping the Rankers stomp the Dildoes too, or at least take it to 7. The Dildoes are probably the hottest team in the league right now, and after the Sobers send the Flutters golfing I'd like to see them maintain the home ice.”

Now if they can just hang on to their young talent for a change they could develop into a real team . . . but the Philly way is to mortgage the future for a shot at now . . . hasn't worked so far has it?

My Sobers are hard-working, fast and multi-faceted. You've got to watch the whole team because there is no superstar. I don't think Philly is up to the task.”

“Funny, but you echoed my criticism of the team this season. I saw those young kids with the Phantoms last season, and they started off this year like gangbusters with the Flutters. Most of them are gone - traded for tired old guys who always seem to be a step behind the other team's breakaway (now I wonder why).

Realistically, the Sobers are their only hope to avoid a one and done, but it's not an overly large hope, admittedly. When it's spring in Philly, Dr. Heimlich needs to be behind the bench.

That said, I've been a Flutters fan since they joined the league in the late 60s.

Forsberg has hardly lived up to his reputation this season, owing chiefly to his tissue paper groin muscle. Gagne has been far better. Umberger has come along nicely, as has Pitkinen. They badly miss Primau. He could not possibly return until late in the playoffs, if at all. And they're not likely to last beyond the second round, if they get that far.

Then again, in the playoffs, anything can happen, and often does. The Dildoes are gonna cool of sometime, just as the Flutters cooled off after the first month of the season.”

“Forsberg, you mean Mr. Glass? That guy seems to sit more on the bench due to injury than he does skating on the ice.

The Devils need to concentrate on playing a full 60 minutes a game. They started off pretty flat last night. Fortunately they were able to climb out of the hole they dug themselves. They aren’t going to be able to pull that off against the Rangers. I hope they remember how to rebound after they loose a game, because I don’t see them being able to sweep anyone in the playoffs.”

“I don't think any of the teams on our division are going to win the conference. I think the Snooters or the Hurrycanes will go to the finals.”

“I think you're probably right. The teams are going to beat up on each other so much that after the first two rounds that they won't have much left.
