The Sabres are second overall but Anaheim has also played several more games. Both of these teams look tough right now, and if the Sabres can get healthy on defense they'll be unstoppable.

Crosby, who became the youngest player ever to reach 100 points when he had 102 last season, has 15 goals and 32 assists this season for 47 points -- three ahead of Jaromir Jagr of the Rangers, who has played in four more games. Wednesday night was just the latest in a string of strong efforts for Crosby, who has 15 points in his last six games. Crosby has a goal in six straight games and has 15 assists in his last 10 outings.

Statistically speaking, Crosby is making a case as the best player in hockey.

The biggest problem with the Penguins right now is that they get way too many goals scored against. If they can find a way to fix that, look out...

Speaking of goals against, the Rangers managed to strengthen their division lead by beating the Stars 5-2, despite a landslide 44-19 shot-on-goal disadvantage. Lundqvist is starting to play like he did last year going into the Olympics...

The Devils are in the lead of their division and Marty Brodeur is currently has the most shutouts in the league so far this year. I just wish they’d improve their game away from home.

Not sure, but the Sabres have been seriously slumping . . . and they're still in second place overall.

My Av's are struggling, but that pulled out an OT win last night! There may still be hope to make the playoffs, but they will have to turn it up a notch or three.

Pens just beat the Predators!!!

"Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal scored in the second period, and 39-year-old Mark Recchi got one of his own in the third as the Penguins beat the top team in the league, 4-1."

We're 27-17-9 and have gotten points in the last 11 games. (9-0-2)

Sidney leads the league in scoring and Malkin leads the rookie scoring AND Jordan Staal leads the league in short handed goals!

YIPPEE!!!
(and I'm killing in the fantasy league)

NJ is slowly creeping up on Buffalo as conference leader. I’m actually hoping they don’t end up with the lead, because the Devils have never won the cup when they were the conference leader at the end of the regular season.

Ooaahaha, that's .... not funny at all.

Watching the Flutters is painful. It's like watching somebody you love who is clumsy trying to walk a highwire above Niagra Gorge with no safety net. You know it's not gonna turn out right and you can't stand to watch.

Yeah Hog, Tango's got me beat. She's all that.

It really doesn't matter, T. Everybody else is feeding on the carcass, so you might as well join the pack. The big question around these parts these days is "Who will the Flyers lose to tonight?"

It's free! Come one; come all! Two points guaranteed, unless you don't particularly want them.

Geo,

I just switched to Comcast Cable and now I get the watch the Flutters lose quite regularly. They look like the practice squad; although gagne had a couple of nice goals last night. I may have to get NHL Center Ice so I can watch real games with real teams.

Better luck next year.

Yeah, they'll probably start winning at the end of the year so they don't get a top draft pick.

Geo, I thought it was a good game last night. In the third your team must have spent about 17 minutes in our zone, we couldn't get the puck to save our lives. And Gagne was awesome last night.

Now for the good news:

Staal’s goal gives the Penguins three players under the age of 21 who have tallied at least 20 goals in the same season. Crosby (age 19) has 25 goals, while Malkin (20) has 26 tallies.

Great Googily Moogily, the Flutters destroyed the Deadwings 6-1 the other night. They're gonna lose out on that first draft pick, wait and see!

Tango

I think it was a dumb move on Nashville's part. I don't think Forsberg will stay healthy through the length of the playoffs, plus the Preds will probably lose him to when he becomes a free agent once the season is over.

I saw part of that game. For a little while I thought Philly was going to tie things up and take the lead.

I really wish I could have seen the Ranges vs. Devils game. From the highlights it looked like it was quite the game. Thursday’s game at the Garden should be a good one if the intensity carries over.

At least Gagne is playing well. The Flutters need to do some serious rebuilding though.

I suspect that my Sabres are about to hit a rough patch . . . they've been hit pretty hard with injuries in the past couple of weeks.
