I was nervous that the Red Wings would lose some of their great players, but it seems to be moving along pretty well. I think that the loss of Mathieu Dandenault will hurt more than people think - he is fast and versatile. As long as they can resign Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, they'll be okay.

Plus, they'll spend the 40 million they save on every scout in the world. The true strength of the Red Wings has been their ability to draft well over the years.

Bobby Clark has always been good at bringing talent to Philly, bu once the talent is there, Clark makes them feel insecure and he doesn't motivate them to play to their full potential. He uses the fear factor. It's difficult to play well when you never know who your coach is going to be tomorrow, if your going to be traded tomorrow and who your goalie is going to be tomorrow. Clark needs to get the talent and then step back and let everyone do their jobs, but he won't do that and that is why the Flyers need to can him.

I'm with you ENS. Since the Flyers and the Maple Leafs are my two adopted teams (second only to the Red Wings of course) I hate to see them build such powerful teams and then do nothing but squander or lose their talent. Bobby needs to go for the exact reasons you stated. No one want to play under a cloud of uncertainty from one day to the next. Same problem with Mike Keenan.

well put NCST, "uncertainy" is the exact name of the throne that Boobie Clark rules from in Philly.

ENS, I read in the paper this morning that Roenick said he is sad to leave because the Flyers organization is one of the best. I also have seen Clark interviewed about Forsberg, and he appears gitty. It's weird.

Ox, wow, how cool! He did really well for me on my fantasy team.

I think there will be major butt kicking by the Penguins this season!!! I've already bought my season ticket satellite NHL package.

The Hawks Are The Team To Watch This Year.
As long as I can remember I have been a Blackhawks fan.My first game that I saw was in 1980.After that I have seen give or take over 400+ games.I have gone throught lots of tough times as a fan as well as good ones. But too me the cap has done good for the NHL.Now teams cannot hog all the good top payed players and it gives teams that have not done a dam thing in years now they can get some good players and start a team around them. With that note I get to the Blackhawks. The Hawks have a very good team this year and at least too me the best team that I have seen the Hawks have since the 1990's.We have good starters and the goaltender I don't have too say is a top notch player that is going to bring alot of wins for the Hawks. But that that said.

HOLY #&%!$ I AM GLAD HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, congrats to the Pittsburglars on picking LeClair up. The only downside is that he seems to get injured a lot, but he gives 150 percent when he is on the ice.

Hated to see him go, but the time had come here to move in another direction, and I have to say I like the direction.

The Waddles should be good for years with the addition of Sidney Whatzizname.

...yet they're both for real.

It really sucks up here in North NJ and New York, because if you live in a neighborhood that's serviced by Time Warner or Cablevision, you have to subscribe to OLN like a premium channel...

Fortunately, Springfield is a Comcast town...

Fantasy Hockey
Is there a TT fantasy league this season? Now that we're permanent residents of North Carolina's Outer Banks I'm ready (and anxious)to participate.

I am SOOOO happy that the NHL is on OLN. I get the channel free on my $11 Comcast cable, along with HBO and Encore. But, no ESPN. So, I was very happy when the change happened. Who needs all those hunting shows anyway?

It sounds like OLN is just showing games Monday and Tuesday evenings. We're thinking about DirecTV's Center Ice package, which will allow us to see the TB Lightning.

Go Bolts!

It'd be great to go again. I know that it takes alot to run it. Pantscandy (since he went back to his original name) wanted to get someone else to run it last season. So anyone want to step up???

I can't back in school this semester.

Speaking of Fantasy Hockey...
Is anyone interested? I'd be willing to host a league for TT -- yahoo seems to have a pretty good setup that's free.

It'd be a private league open to any TT-ers interested. Ideally, we'd have 12 teams or so; in order to go head-to-head mode, we'd need an even number.

Anyways, let me know if you're interested, and when you could be available so we can actually have a live draft. The draft should occur before Fri 16 Sep, though, as that is when the preseason begins. If we get enough interest, I'll set it up and let all y'all know where to sign up.

Ok, rather than letting me know when you can have the draft, let me know when you cannot, as this could be a multi-hour affair...

For now, I propose Thursday, 15 Sep, 2005 at 9:00 PM EDT (to allow any west coast friends that may be interested to get home from work)...

To sign up, click Sign Up, then click to join a league, and finally click to join a custom league. Our League ID and password are as follows:

PW: backpacker

All the settings are Yahoo's default (public) league settings, except that I'm allowing a maximum of 20 teams (the max), as opposed to Yahoo's default 12.

Of if you just want more information for now, just check out the site linked above and hopefully their help system can answer any questions you may have. Otherwise, email me (address in profile) and I'll do my best to help you out.

We will be having a live online draft the night before the real NHL preseason begins at 9:00 PM EDT (6:00 PM PDT) on Thu 15 September 2005, so be sure to free up that night if you want to play.

Anyways, enough rambling for now. Hope to see you there, and good luck!
