Ocala NF ECT2, Florida Y'all

“I am so glad that we can share the added experience of doing the spring run with some interested people. It really is a unique environment and will be a place where you'll want to take some photos. I'm pumped about sharing a part of what I love about this place with others.

Crappy aluminum Stove. Actually, they aren't bad canoes. The run is so narrow and twisty that you just sort of go with the flow most of the way. The spring run has a pretty good current so most of the paddling is steering around bends.

I'll plan on taking off Monday to do the run. I haven't kept up with all of the posts, but Chili mentioned that he may be able to come down early, so I may take off Thursday as well, to do the run with him.

If we're going from Juniper to Alexander, HPM, I may just camp at Juniper the night before the trip.

Tex, there's a good place to rent a good kayak in G'ville but that's pretty far from Ocala. Would you want to rent a kayak there and then leave it on a car for three days while we hike the forest? I may be able to drive up there on Sunday, after the hike, but that's not a sure thing. If you want to go on Thursday, we can rent the kayak in G'ville on Wednesday, and I can take it back Thursday after the trip. It's about an hour drive between Juniper Springs and the kayak/backpacking store. Canoe rental is not a bad option. I don't have an extra kayak (yet), but I'm willing to help any way I can if you want a kayak. Any suggestions, Om?”

I am watching this thread!!!! I can't wait to go. I have not had a chance to backpack any lately. I am ready to go. At the worst if they don't let me off work on Friday I will find you guys on Saturday. I will know more when the time gets close.

I finally have a trip planned for this fall. I am going to Myakka River this weekend. Just an overnighter if any of you Florida people are going to be around.”
