It's 100% contained now ...but it won't be "dead out" until it snows.

Wow, that's devastating. Hope something's still there for the deer to eat.

Before you know it there will be green lush new growth. The forest will renew itself.

Tango is right. It is truely amazing how enriching fire is to forests and widlife alike. Though right now it seems devistating, in a few short years that same area will be thicker with new life, perhaps more than it ever was before. It will be like it was reborn. In the mean time, sorry for yor loss and hope you find a new area to check out.

Wow, That Stinks...I Feel For Ya
I swear I see a trail in the right side of the pic, at least you'll be able to see where your going and not have the proverbial "Can't see the forest through the trees." Just pretend it's winter time, but rather warm.

Actually...I was told the parts that were burned first are already showing signs of returning vegetation and the deer and bear are feeding on the new sprouts.

The area is still closed to hunters and they are mad about that. But I think they should give the wildlife the rest of the year off :) Besides...they're sitting ducks out there with no cover to hide behind.

Next spring that area most likely will be overflowing with wildflowers. The wildflowers the spring after the Yellowstone fires were amazing.

Another Good Note
Morel mushrooms flourish in areas that were recently burned.

Tell me about it. Last weekend it was hard for you to walk by one without you needing pictures of mushrooms.
LOL!!!

Those trees are dead. There was a fire in the woods near my house in 1978 and you can still see the damage. Our time is much shorter than woods time. Perhaps a hundred years from now all that will be invisible. The ideal way for the forest to burn is to remove all the undergrowth but a fire that burns that hot and dry does not do anybody any good. Tis sad.
