if you don't have a solid sheet
for your dehydrator, and you want to try dehydrating something and can't get to a store to get a solid sheet, if there something you can use?
I'd like to try doing some pasta sauce but forgot a sheet. (hay remember im a gimp this weekend)

Just watch out for that 'Consorting With a Known Felon' thing...

Hmmmm, I would think that the wax might melt offa there, but what the heck do I know?

I'd be concerned about using waxed paper, it's apt to melt. Parchment paper (the kind bakers use) is a better bet.

is parchment paper something you can get in any super market?

Parchment Paper
That's where I buy it. Not sure if a small mom & pop would carry it. I find it in the same area of waxed paper, plastic wrap, etc.

I found parchment paper can stand higher temps than waxed.

Best

You can use cling wrap too. Make sure to allow ventilation. Four trays with cling wrap may not dehydrate before the food spoils. I do one or two solid trays at a time.

uhh...if your husband is going out to buy the wax paper why don't you have him buy the dehydrator ring...almost everywhere has them
target, walmart, k-mart, macy's, rich's, etc etc etc

the solid disk that allows you to dehydrate fruit to make roll ups, speghetti sauce to prevent spilling to the bottom etc.

What Prowler said
. . . and more. The plastic sheets allow you to dehydrate stuff that would fall the spaces. I use the sheets to dehydrate pasta premavera (sp?) which includes small veggies and cheese that would fall through the cracks. Also, I have heard, but not tried that you can use the sheets to dehydrate orange juice concentrate!

I would have answered to this thread earlier, but looking at the title I thought it was about bedding.

Aluminum foil also works well. Lay down two sheets perpendicularly. That should cover the entire surface area. Roll up the excess around the edges (so it looks like pizza crust). That's been working good for me.

Opie, if my threads bother you then please don't respond.

It was an honest question and I was looking for an honest answer. If you don't have one then thats ok. I don't want to be lied to.

as for a plastic ring? I didn't see one so im thinking I didn't get one. So I need to get in touch with the company. thansk for the advice!
Ps how was your weekend?
