Cucamonga Peak, Baden Powell and a cute Bear Cub
WingDing, Altisoar, WLD and PolarBear dayhiked The IceHouse Canyon
trail to the IceHouse Saddle , then up to Cucamonga Peak. Along the
way we came across an old abandoned mine. Great views, fun company,
and a cute Bear Cub. The trip report is with the pictures...
Thanks WingDing for orginizing the hike!

That is a steep hike. You guys really must have booked up there. Most people not familiar with the area don't realize that, except for the smog, you could see a lot of the Los Angeles Basin.

Thanks...wish I could have been there.

LOL WindWalker,
In fact you are correct. For me this was a conditioning hike for Agassiz.

FYI
Prowler - FYI. See Pic taken from my car on the way to work. These mountains border Los Angeles County at the northeast. The three snow covered peaks you see from left to right are: Mt. San Antonio (a.k.a. Mt. Baldy - 10,000 ft.), Ontario Peak, and Cucamonga Peak (both over 8000 ft). They climbed Cucamonga Peak. IMHO it is actually one of the tougher hikes in the local mountains from the standpoint of altitude gain/mile.

Cute cub! Where was mama? I've never seen bears in the local mtns. Thanks!

With the webshots albums holding 60 pics, I was going to do the same thing you did, with the title thumbnail. Seems like a waste, but that's the only way to do it. Trips won't be in order anymore.

Prowler,

You can't keep adding conditions to your demands!!

I was raised here and you can see the mountains MANY more days each year now than you could in the 50's, 60's and 70's. The smog blows from LA in the morning into the Pomona Valley in the evening...bummer for those in the Pomona Valley who have to eat someone elses smog. I live in Orange County which is pretty clear, compared to LA.

Well, SN, we were certainly loking for Momma Bear, but did not see her. Hopefully she was hiding. Otherwise the bear cub could be an orphan. Not a good thing for a bear so young.

Yes, I think for me, dayhikes will be posted together. I rarely take 60 pictures on a dayhike.
