Since I was 14 I would listen to Sean Hannity from 3-6 on WABC. Last year (sept 10) Mr. Hannity started his radio show on the national scale. Just under one year of having his show nationaly sindicated (sp?) he put out a best seller book "Let freedom ring". This Saturday I attended his book signing where I waited in line for 3 hours with fellow conservatives. It was great, I have so much more ammo to sling at the left. I recomend his book to all and his show(s) to you!

I forgot to mention his TV show on Fox News, that kicks but too.

I like your honesty Iced Tea.

Sadly, too few people do much reading -- even fewer read about serious contemporary social issues. Sadly, too many people read political material in order to get ammo to sling - not to get material to process in order to think critically and independently. People study to get weapons in arguments, not to challenge their own thinking or stretch their minds.

I think it was reasonably clear. Tea writes: "It was great, I have so much more ammo to sling at the left."

This is what gets frustrating about a lot of political and issue oriented discussions - people don't actually want to think, analyze or discuss. They just want to sling ammo that someone else supplied.

Hey Ice Tea, I like Hannity too. Not to sling arrows though, but for his perspective. He doesn't hate liberals, and says so. He just disagrees with them.

hannity ROCKS!
i agree pathdewd. he is very well mannered & has little animonisity towards the left. i saw him on TV last night at a book signing & he invited any liberals to challenge him and ask any question they wished. he got 5 or 6 before they hushed up. he was very impressive in the way he presented his arguments, backing them with facts and figures, all on the fly. he had no idea what the questions were going to be. slam dunked every one of them.

ped, my opinions have evolved over the years. and yes, alot of that was due to things i have read or heard others say. but to me, it's mererly a form of investigation. meaning, i listen to hannity on the radio at night(when driving) because he is a source of information that is unavailable anywhere else. i want to have the WHOLE picture. he is a source from witch to learn. i still filter through it all, and if i happen to agree with him, it doesn't mean i am not thinking. moderation is cool n all, but sometimes you just agree with something.

hannity and colmbs is a very cool show on foxTV. truely the most balanced show on tv. co-hosted by a liberal & a conservative.

Sean H. is on out here also. He does provide a lot of support for his positions.

I saw Sean Hannity on C-Span this weekend. He makes a lot of sense and as Phil says, he backs up his opinion with fact.

One reason liberals hate him.

I don't know the guy at all. I was just talking in general about approaches to reading (finding ways to defend your views, or attack others) rather than to challenge and expand your own.

Everyone has a right to their beliefs but if someone spouts crap as truth I'm going to call you on it no matter what side it comes from.

The real trick is separating the crap from the truth.

I like Sean. Sometimes his arguments seem a little contrived, his logic stretched, but no more than anyone else. And most of the time I think he is very solid.

He does not strike me as a big-mouth or a bully, but of course, since I usually agree with him, my perception would be a little different that that of someone who is usually on the other side of the issue.

I think you gain more from reading. Mostly because the written word requires more attention to content from both the writer and reader.

For the record, I don't watch or listen to political shows very much as I think most debates degenerate into annoying crosstalk.
