“Got this email.. you guys prolly can answer him better.. believe it or not?.. heh.. have not done the Mt Cammerer hike yet.. (have been practically EVERYwhere else in the Smokies). So would you email this guy back a reply?

I will be taking my first hike to Mt Camerer fire tower next weekend, and I was wondering if you knew if it is always open so you can sleep in there, or is there a place to set up a tent near by and is there water nearby, or do I need to pack it in?? “Cammerer isn't a campsite. The closest place to camp is either Cosby Knob or Davenport Gap.

I heard that the tower is kept open but can't confirm that. However if you get caught camping there it's a big fat fine.”

“When did that happen?
Years ago it was a designated campsite. I camped with a permit one winter very close to the tower.”
