Backpackers: what do they really want?

The smell of the forest.

Good camaraderie between hiking buddies around the campfire at the end of the day.

Drifting off to sleep while counting what seems to be billions of stars in the sky.

A decent night's sleep undisturbed by the mating rituals of drunken rednecks.

Waking in the morning to another beautiful day of hiking.”

but i also like

-a reassuring firm weight on my shoulders/hips
-A wispy clouded day with a moderate breeze
-Comfortable silences enjoyed by the entire group
-Knowing what your friends are thinking without them having to put it into words
-I'm a fan of the hour long cool afternoon shower, these are best watched from an overhang, riverbank, or open door of a tent
-Dodging smoke around a fire with good friends
-The smell the forest has when you wake up in the morning and it gently rained all night.
-A far off thunderboomer....the horizon dark, the wind brisk, the air clean...the excitement about what could come.

These are what get my butt off the couch...these are the things that remind me why we need to save what we have left and teach it to those who have yet to love it.”

* Cold days (30 - 35 degrees is perfect)
* Slightly overcast days
* Clear nights
* Good water source about every 5 - 6 miles & at camp
* Breath taking Overlooks
* Trail Shelters at camp. (it ain't so much the camping as it is the long walk for me.)
* Seeing bears that are scared of people
* Sexy Female Strippers (with big boobs)on the trail
* Pack weight that NEVER exceeds 25 pounds
* Finally, fast paced hiking partners with a fun sence of humor!
