One more time, folks, Sammi Claus. It's far and away the best there is, a truly great beer. After that, way way after that, come the best of the rest. It's sold in vintages.

For lagers, I like Warsteiner and Pilsner Urquell.
For ales, I love New Belgium's Abbey Ale and Anchor Steam.
Porters and Stouts are a sub-category of ales. Too many good ones out there, but Guinness is always good and Samuel Smith makes a great imperial stout.

HOWEVER.....for a treat that is hard to beat, you have to bellly up to the bar at the Free State Brewery. You won't be disappointed!

I agree Dunadan. You just can't beat a Guinness.

i've never even heard of Sammi Claus or Samuel Smith, except on here! i guess a good rule to go by is, if the beer sounds like a person's name, the first of which is a variation of Samuel, it's good.

and what's this about Richard Gere? he's a Moose Drool aficionado? or perhaps passes the time sitting on weasels? how i missed this is unthinkable!

There’s a place near me that sets you up to brew your own small batch. The sell the ingredients – you mix it up and brew it in their equipment. A friend of mine grows his own hops and brews some good stuff there.

My favorite micro-brew is Brooklyn Brown Ale. Several of their beers have won awards. If you live outside the NY metropolitan area you can’t get it. Sorry.

Yeah, Lyra, I think it had something to do with hamsters and ducttape...
