New tent

“I would like everyone’s opinion on a good 4-season, lightweight, one-man, backpacking tent. I do most of my wood walking during the colder parts of the year, and often go alone. All right, let me have it.”

“The 1 man Hilleberg Akto is in your price range. I don't have that one, but I do have their other model the Nallo 2 that I use solo. It's $425 I think, but you'll have more room in it and the weight and stuff size is still good for solo use.”

4 season, 2-3 person, 2 lbs 13 oz, not free standing, easy to set up, dries quickly. I use it a lot (120+ days since I got it last spring) and used it on a 30 day trip for 2 and it was not a space problem. I've had condensation a few times in the Sierras, but other people on the same trip/different tents have it too.”

“i have a hilleberg akto and like it. i would like to have a nallo so i could fit my son in with me in the winter. will sell my akto for $290 (i will ship for free). it is in new condition. i am your exact same size. the akto will hold me and all my winter gear with plenty of space left over. i have used it in extreme cold, snow and summer. i used it on a week long trip at mount rogers last winter and a couple of other times this summer without the inner tent. it is a good tent but my needs have changed and i can't afford two. light, versatile and 100% quality. akto

“Tha Akto is a great tent, IMHO. I have one. I lusted after it since the first time I saw it on the net. If, after your research you decide to get one, buy the one from baume 66. 290 bones is a real good price(bought mine for 360 something, with footprint).”

“I have the Kelty Jetsream 2. Great tent if ya can find a good deal on it. Its a two man tent but I find it the perfect size for me solo.”

“I have a 3-4 season SD Omega convertible in which the mesh panels can be zipped to completely shut out the harshest weather. I've had it for about 5 years now and it isn't as nice as the newer ones but the thing is bombproof and I'll most likely have it forever.”

“i had the 3 person version of that tent. it wasn't put out by eureka though. it was sold under redhead(outdoor world's brandname) it had eureka symbols small down at the bottom. that thing was pretty bombproof when set up tight. freestanding too. the 3person was a little heavy but i bet the 2 is a damn nice piece of tent.
oh yea, great ventilation, too. that roof vent helps out more than you would think.”

“Eureka are my favorite tents they are built good and don't cost alot and they look cool.

“Integral Designs MK1, but over $450. I have a MK1 Lite and really like it, but the Lite model only works if you're 6' or shorter.”

“Moss Outland (2001) MSR Sentinel (2002)is my double wall choice. I have just gotten a Outland. My second one.

Single wall #1 choice would be a AKTO.

If withstanding heavy snows might be what your'e in, I'd go with the Outland/Sentinel.”
