I don't know about the fire, but I heard this area is about to experience some massive logging. I think I read 8500 acres.

Unfortunately
The Allegheny Nat'l Forest is ALREADY currently the most logged area east of the Mississippi River.

I looked at a website and saw some info on the logging. I think it was the Allegheny defense fund or something like that. They were concerned about drilling too.

There's not enough of it to log too much. It's right smack in oil country, so drilling is going to happen.

The Allegheny Defense Fund is the local advocacy group there. I'm not sure how organized or effective they are.

Tried for a Public Info Officer job out there last winter but got turned down. In the hopes of an interview, I did a crash course on the issues. The person who got the job has a tough course cut out for him. There are a host of often competing interests at play - loggers, drillers, boaters, fishers, hunters, ATV users, Skimobile users, cross country skiers, hikers, campers, and a forestry research station close by. The little wilderness there is a bandbox compared to other areas in the east.

Sounds like a lot of people trying to divide a little piece of pie.

Just checked the ANF site, and the Warren and Bradford newspaper websites. No mention of a fire, but it could have recently broken out and didn't make the news yet.

Near Warren
I know a few weeks ago someone set fire to a Forestry office/lab where they studied the local trees (I know that's pretty gdneral but that's all I remember)

There is nothing posted on NIFC.gov site about a fire in Pa. Just the 2 in Cali. and 1 in Tenn. I knew that place was kinda busy but not bad. Still would like to check the area out someday.
