Looking for an extended trip partner!
Ok, so I was told this is the place to find a partner! I'm looking for someone to share a 10+days trip in October. Oh, ya, I'm 24, female and looking for a good hiker/friend first! I have the month to spare and I need the experience for school...plus, I don't really want to go solo... I know Colorado best but I'm afraid it'll be to snowy by the time I start, so I was thinking south AT or part of the JMT even if it's colder (I'm from Canada so not a problem...). email me: wimzie46@hotmail.com

I think this is for real. She posted on "the other site" and was getting no response. I sent her an email telling her she would surely get responses here.

mountaingen, this place can be wild and wooly, but there are some serious backpackers here, and who knows who lurks. Carefully sift the wheat from the chaff and you stand a good chance of making a connection.

Good luck!

Isn't Oct when Stikmon is planning on going to Colorado? Is he already there?

I said that you would get responses, but neglected to warn you about some of them. I thought you'd see soon enough and make your own impression. Seriously though, people on this site do hike together.

After you wade past the BS, you will find most of the people you will meet from this board are really fun to be around.

No off time for me in Oct...
Mebbe you could get some TTers to join you on sections. There's a plethera of East Coast Trekkers within a stone's throw of the southern AT.

I've got an AT trip planned for the third week in October, but it's only a week. See this thread for details.

The last of October might work... I guess I was a little nuts to think that I could find a not so crazy person to join me on this ...

Yah, I'm definitely nuts, so if you're looking for sane company, I'm not it, lol.....

On a more serious note, simer190 is on another thread, looking for a partner for his Wanderjahre. So you might want to check out this thread and see if you're interested.

mountaingen, I was going to suggest you look at what was said about this site on the "other" site, where I originally saw your post, but it seems to have been down all day today.

It was all nice. ;-)

The Florida Trail
Yeap . .. matter of factly, I was on the Trail this past weekend!! It is indeed a different kind of place than most trekkers have trekked. Flat, wooded and full of wildlife.
It is as Florida has been for hundreds of years.
Also, in my area (5 minutes down the road) is Cumberland Island National Seashore, a fun place to visit.
My ambition is to obtain the title of Wilderness Guide. (I did have that title in Bermuda,BWI while stationed there while in the Navy) Let me know if I can be of any assistance in your endeavors.
Regards!!

Is there a country named Quebec yet? No, not that I know of...so you're a Canuck. Gremblin and I are from La Belle Province also...I believe there is another...but I don't recall his/her name.

Btw, I've bpacked Montagne Grise near St. Donat, Mt. Sutton in Cantons de l'est, and a few smaller mountains in the Laurentiens near Piedmont.
